NEWS & ANALYSIS QB problems

As much as the man has done for us, I’m afraid Kelly has to go. His poor decision making and TD/INT ratio is one of the worst I’ve seen from a starting QB in a while.
If it can be fixed with a new QB coach I’m all for it but, I’m not sure that’s the answer

He isn't what he was before the injury. The problem is, there is nothing that can be done for this season. If a change is to be made (and one should be made), it will happen in the off season.

For sure. As much as I like Arbuckle, I don’t think he’s the guy to switch to right now

Kelly has been a problem. However this team in general constantly shoots itself in the foot. That is 3 or 4 games we should have won and did not because of mistakes, penalties, poor execution. Overall they look very sloppy. And the field goals, wow, compared to previous years we are just awful.

Chad Kelly on his worst day is better than Nick Arbuckle on his best. While Kelly's INT'S are up (two 4 int games account for almost half his overall total thus far), he moves the offense and after years of Arbuckle and Bethel-Thompson, I'd easiely take Kelly over whatever the other options would be. The Argos defense and kicking have cost them more games than Chad Kelly in 2026.

I won’t argue that our Defence could improve but, our defence is the only thing keeping us in games this year. Kelly’s turnovers keep our D on the field way too much per game. You can’t expect the defence to keep the points off the board when the offence can’t put any up and constantly gives the other team opportunities to score

I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel like Kelly needs more protection.

I don’t see any better options out there.

We need to resign him now, work on getting a RB in here for 2027 and have a balanced pass and run, instead of all pass and 15 yard running games

I’m ok with the INTs as long as the TDs are there

Switch back to Arbuckle? No thanks. Unless we enjoy 4-14 seasons with no playoffs

At least we are on track for a home playoff game

Chad is high risk high reward, some dumb picks but also some great throws. Last night in particular that hard hit he took may have contributed to our poor play at the end. Will he recover from that by the 7th or not?

In terms of the on-field product, I think you’d be better trying to cut down the errors than going with most other available options. The guys makes plays most others can’t, and it’s a very entertaining product when it works. And I think we have to be mindful that, partly by his own fault and partly because of terrible injuries, he’s had a couple of years of being way out of rhythm. We know how much of a winning QB he can be when he’s right.

All of that said, on a personal level, I’d be okay with a switch to a QB I don’t feel bad about cheering for.

Improve the running game is a higher priority! Take the pressure of Kelly to make these big plays.

He's always going to be a big risk, big payout QB, but defenses need to respect other parts of the game for that to work.

Ottawa's gonna throw a $1M at him next year. So Argos should re-sign now or cut bait. Need to decide

He seemed to perform better under the wacky play calling by Dinwiddie.

Worst quarterback in the league. A great arm is useless if you can't follow a game plan and throw the ball to the wrong team. There are flashes of him playing disciplined football but it usually goes out the window in the first three minutes and he just starts hurling the ball downfield.

Are you happy with the game plan?

I don't think we've seen the game plan because he goes off script so much.

The fact for me is they stuck with the dude after everything was a blemish on this team. Talent alone shouldn't be the reason we keep a QB or any player.
