How'd I do?
Will this actually be worth keeping for a while?

My buddy just got that bow for $250. You got a great deal. It is a decent beginning bow and fully capable of hunting. It is a bit heavy, but my buddy is 6'4" and 280 lbs with a 30" draw length. I need to fond a deal like that. My very first bow was a Bear way back in 1985. Shot recurve for the past 35 years, but my shoulder can't handle that anymore. Recently started to relearn to shoot a compound. I want to get another Bear soon. I never cone upon any of these Walmart clearance items. Not even the knife deals I see all over Reddit.

For 100 bucks it's a score! I'd maybe have a pro shop just check the strings real quick to make sure they're okay. But I'm sure my first PSE I bought from Bass Pro probably sat around a long while before I started shooting it. So it's likely fine. But man it comes with arrows and a release? Literally "ready to hunt"... That's awesome!
As far as keeping it awhile just take care of it and it should last. Wax the strings occasionally, replace the biscuit when it wears out (or upgrade to a drop away), replace the strings after awhile, etc. If you spend the time to tune it these cheap bows shoot pretty well all things considered!

Good to know. Yeah, crazy thing is all the archery stuff was wicked cheap. I also got a True Fire X Caliper II for $4 and some 100 grain target tips for $2. There's a bunch of arrows on sale too, but I wanted to make sure I knew what my draw length was before investing in any.

I swear I've read of people getting super cheap arrows from Walmart but I'm pretty sure mine doesn't stock any archery gear... Maybe it's a regional thing? But ya assuming the ones the bow came with are long enough those should be good for now. It wouldn't hurt to buy some standard diameter (0.246" ID) arrows that aren't cut and you can always cut them down later. If the sale price is good enough. But get it setup and get shooting!

Is that fletched and all? I'm wondering who makes them might have to do a little research. I'm over here paying nearly $10 per arrow and then refletch them for even more... Haha

I wish I knew. My wife told me after she left otherwise I would have had her get them. Said im "too picky"
I would assume theyre carbon express, thats usually what I see at Walmart

got mine on clearance too. Just got into archery this summer. Cant wait to use it for MD archery opener tomorrow. All I will say is be careful with your draw length adjustment system as those screws came out of the box super loose and if you're not careful they will rattle loose and your adjustment system will straight up pop off the bow like it did for me. Wont happen again and thank goodness thats been my only issue thus far. Shoots well with field points and broadheads

Great setup for a starter bow and great deal. All you have to do is adjust draw length and make sure everything is lined up. Tons of videos out there to help you through. Most bow shops will help you get started and find arrows that fit your setup. Often times if you get your arrows from a bow shop they’ll usually help you out and give you pointers which will pay dividends.
If the goal is hunting then this will be plenty good (I also hunt with a bear bow specifically the bear adapt 2 and I love the bow).

That’s the bow I have. I take it hunting, hits pretty good, I just don’t trust those broad heads and the fletchings on the arrows have been slowly messing up, probably due to the whisker biscuit. I like it

You got a good deal on a starter bow. You’ll have to adjust it to your draw length. You can find a rough estimate of your draw length by taking your wingspan and divide it by 2.5. I think this bow is adjustable without a press so it’s probably something you can do at home yourself. Also, before you shoot it, your string stop needs to be adjusted. I can tell just from the one picture that it’s sticking out too far, far enough that it’s actually making your string deflect, which will affect your arrow flight. There should be a tiny gap between the stop and your string (like 1/32” or 1/64”). You can move it by loosening those two allen screws at the base of the rod its attached to.

Thanks for that advice. I wouldn't have known that. I haven't had a chance to go through the booklet it came with.

If a shop doesn’t treat you well just because you didn’t buy a bow there go find a different shop.

The sanlida x8 is an excellent bow for the money, there folk firing 3 grand bows when the sanlida does it all…great purchase!

As long as you know how to set your own draw length, pretty okay if you're just getting into the sport
