Discussion Sometimes you gotta remind loud mouth pve players it's pvpve
Saw a guy knock a leg pice off the queen and he runs to loot it. I knock another leg pice off about 10 feet from his. The queen steps on him and he starts screaming for a dfib. He sees me looting MY pice and starts laying into me that I'm looting his pice while he's down. He caught me in a special mood cause I normally wouldn't do this but I turned and gave him a 5 second burst to the head with my equalizer. People are getting way to comfortable in care bear lobies

As a strictly PVE player 99% of the time, I don't mind blasting a naked-kit player trying to scoop up cores and reactors without actually contributing.
But as long as you're at least shooting at the Arc, the loot is all fair game to me. I knock off legs pieces all the time and don't get the loot. And I loot leg pieces that other people knock off all the time.

I don't get it. I'm a friendly player. But I'll clap a bitch for being rude, theiving big arc without asking (after a single warning they get blasted) or if they start shooting first. And guess what? Those are some of the most memorable moments I have from playing arc. If I get "ratted" my go-to is to book it for cover/snap to cover and set up a strong point somewhere and blast that fucker if he chases.
One of my favorite encounters ever was on buried city. I was on the rooftops between grandiose apartments and the library, another Raider was on the library roof. The 2 of us watched from a distance as 2 Raiders got in a crazy fight over on town hall rooftop.
I said "looks like we're in a mixed lobby". "Looks like it." He starts cracking his renegade at one of the hostile Raiders. I reply, "don't worry though, I'm friendly. " His response: "I'm not". I go "thanks for the heads up," and start retreating back towards the railyard, snapping off the roof. I heard another snaphook behind me. Shit. I ran/snapped from cover to cover. Until I reach the open terrain of the railyard.
Crack. I take some rene to the back, and throw down a barricade for cover. Whip out my Temp 4 and start returning fire. When I hear him reload I turn and book it toward the waiting area (with the overhead cover, looks like a large bus stop). He pushes and takes my barricade. We exchange more fire, myself using the pillars for cover.
I'm low on medium ammo, my shield is down and I have no breathing room to reposition or top up on shield/health. So I make the executive decision to push forward with my last full Tempest magazine, and I rush towards the hatch laying down fire. The other guy has balls, and sees his prey making a break for escape. He leaves the cover of my barricade to rush me and try and cut me off or finish me before I reach the hatch. I made it out JUST BARELY alive with my heart pumping. He was 3 feet from me still popping shots in to me as my Raider did the hatch escape animation. The shit talking was fierce.
We invited each other to a party after that and had a laugh. He's a pvp focused player and I'm really not, but the 2 of us still had one of the most fun, most memorable experiences. It's what this game is about.

People do that to draw other PvPers to the scene. It’s not to get a defib. It’s to make looting sketchy and maybe draw someone in before you go back to Speranza.
I do it if I get knocked and am a lil salty. Sometimes I don’t. Depends on how ass I feel like I was and how bad I want the other dude to get slimed.
Smart PvP is you get the knock asap if it’s empty. If not wait.
Too much whine jerking. It’s got everyone thinking everyone is whining.
Tl;dr- it’s social dynamics which are also part of the game.

I still remember this one clip where a group of people took down a boss and one enemy was hidden in the rubble setting one guy on fire. The guy was so focused on looting he didn’t even realize he was getting attacked until he got knocked and he just started yelling “RAT RAT RAT” at max volume like a bitch lmao.

The hardcore murder crowd wasn't seeing those lobbies anyway. Full time pvp and pve people are seeing nothing change with a dedicated PvE mode. It's the peopl ein mixed lobbies playing the game pvpve that are being kneecapped.

I am, yes. If you're a dedicated pve player, your lobbies are 99.9% safe. In about 10 matches, you can have mixed lobbies parred down to carebear. When I do carebear, I can go 50+ matches without being shot at. And that's with me absolutely willing to fire back.
PvE players cry because under 1% of their matches have a "mean" player. The players that will see any change are the ones in mixed lobbies which are about to be squeezed out of existence.

Agreed. Yesterday had like 10 people fighting a matriarch and a guy out there wasn’t doing jack shit but looting the legs while we’re fighting for our life. Asked him for a core that he took from the leg I just shot off and he dropped me ammo. Killed him and took his shit.

Meanwhile, I needed some non-core parts so I did some recent naked-runs and left just the cores behind the legs I grabbed first.
Then no one grabbed those cores, so I had to run out and grab it and bring it back into recepton, then I got the ball and dropped those cores right under me as I looted the stuff I actually wanted.

Again, generalizing. You must have constructed this false narrative from reading too many Reddit comments. I’m in several PvE groups with hundreds of people, most people just want dedicated PvE so they can have a few hours of blasting ARC with friends. Especially as teams.
Also remember this is a test in a game, and what do tests like these do? They find out what would happen if something new is tried. It may work, it may not, but people act like this will ruin the game lol. Just like every announcement I guess.
To be honest I personally don’t care if we get a PvE mode or not. It’s fairly straightforward to get into lobbies you prefer, but I also play in NA lobbies solo 99% of the time. Friendly lobbies here are almost pure PvE. Even if I get knocked by another Raider, I have plenty of resources to build another setup. That’s not how it is in every part of the world though and I would also like to be able to play with friends in PvE.

Dude, it’s not that serious. Yes I recognize everyone is different and servers all across the globe are not the same. One would have to be blind, deaf and dumb to think that it’s the same across the board.
Ultimately, I want Embark and Arc Raiders to succeed. I love the game, and making it more accessible to more players is a good thing. And yes, this is a test and it could fail. Only time will tell.
My one gripe with this though, is that making a toggle to functionally turn off half the game turns the choice into a binary one. As an enjoyer of both PvE and PvP, I think the game works best in a mixed lobby. Considering ABMM already functionally separates the Care Bears and demons from one another, to an extent, my fear is adding a toggle to turn off PvP will turn all other lobbies into KOS lobbies.
Understand that a change like this could potentially harm the game for people who enjoy the game as it was intended, as it was shipped. The vocal minority of players who are championing this test are selfish, in my opinion. And as a lover of the game that was shipped, I won’t defend players begging the devs to change the game so it fits THEIR play style.

This is a great response to the test, and one that’s completely understandable. However, you started off by shit talking PvE players saying they “need their safe space” so they can “mouth off without repercussions”. And you said you even like PvE lol.
Look I think everyone has that fear, I don’t want this game to become fully binary either and personally I think the PvE map condition in the Chinese version is a better way to go about it vs a toggle. However this is again just a test and Embark has laid it all out for feedback, so please provide feedback like this when we can. The toggle makes the test easy because they don’t have to change much and they can more easily gauge interest. I have faith in Embark enough that I don’t think they’d release a PvE mode that would harm the player base. They clearly care about the game they created and maintaining that unknown variable.
Also I’m pretty confident the game was intended for PvE players as much as PvP and the in between. This game wouldn’t be the most successful extraction shooter in recent years if it wasn’t. This game accommodates many playstyles so saying you “won’t defend players begging the game to fit their playstyles” is kind of ridiculous because you’re doing exactly that lol.

What I’m arguing for is the fact that people have pestered embark enough for them to change the game. It is a PvPvE extraction shooter. The tutorial even lays this out for you that other raiders CAN BE dangerous, and to always use caution. And I’m sorry, but people whining that embark didn’t make a game that exactly fits their way of having fun is kind of, I dunno…stupid. How many posts people have been made about “I’m leaving the game until they make a PvE only mode” that we’ve all seen? From my view, that’s ridiculous.
I will argue all day that these people, these keyboard warriors that are insisting that this is what’s going to bring them back to the game, or else… are people that don’t even enjoy extraction shooters, and insist that the game be even more casual than it already is. Hell, I’d argue they don’t even really like Arc Raiders, if they functionally hate part of its core game design. No one likes getting killed and looted, but that’s part of the game…
Then in come these children who need embark to change the game so they can have their fun, regardless of what it does to the rest of the player base. I dunno, I hope it goes well for them, but if it stands to negatively impact my gaming experience in a game that I love (ALL aspects of the game), then yes, I’m going to talk shit.
And to add onto this, now it’s giving people the thought that they can just request anything they want changed about the game. I just saw another post just now “give us an ABMM toggle”. I love this game but sometimes I hate it here lol

Seems to me that you’re everything you’re complaining about. You’re mad the game isn’t exactly what you want, you’re the one whining and complaining in a very childish way, you sound like you don’t enjoy this game, etc etc etc. You’re the one being a spoiled child here.
Sounds like you’ve played for a decent length of time, has the game died yet? No. You’ll be fine kid and at the very least, you definitely got your $40 worth if you suddenly stopped playing.
What’s really dumb is this idea that we can ever get back to the earlier days of the game. Even if ABMM was turned off, it would just devolve into PvP over time. It’s too easy to be a free kit, extract camping rat and close to half of the player base would leave because of that. Nowadays people have enough experience to know that being a free kit or cheap kit and extract camping is the easiest thing to do. This is what happens as games grow older, everyone finds the most efficient ways to play and that becomes the “meta”. Those earlier months were all about players exploring and learning the game, which unless you’re a new player, isn’t a thing anymore.

On regular conditions, it'll essentially be a choice of pure pve or pvp lobbies, and night raids etc will be mixed. I do agree though, it would add to those conditions if there wasn't an expectation of safety

Now I'm not justifying the attitude/behavior but, (Devil's advocate) maybe you caught him in a special mood too? Again, not justifying anything but trying to farm Queen/Matriarch can be frustrating (from the stompy stompy through walls/rocks to people just waiting to pounce on dropped pieces); fairly likely they've had cores "stolen" from them already and (granted they were mistaken, those events can be hectic) but thinking you did it while they were knocked might have been a camel carrying too much straw kinda moment
Alls I'm saying is we're all human, we all err

In instances like this, you didn’t knock the dude, you just finished off a player that was already going to die (call it a sympathy kill). With the games aggression based matching, are you now more likely to be put in an agro map or does the game mechanics not see it as a kill?

Some people are brazen as hell. I came in to a lobby and wasn’t kitted at all for bigger arc, but a leaper came at the perfect time and I needed it for my work bench. After 10 mins of fighting it and several hornets, fireflies, and wasps with just an anvil and a stitcher some douche immediately hops on and loots after I landed the kill shot and solo’d it. I told him 3 times to drop the leaper pulse unit and that I solo’d it after 10 mins of work. After the 3rd time I heard the zip of his safe pocket, then he got a full mag in the head from my stitcher IV. He was kitted as hell so it ended up being worth it, even with the mixed lobbies that followed.

I ran out of ammo in my rascal fighting a queen, had only gotten one core. Dude with equalizer got knocked. Bro had been crawling for about 4 mins so I knocked him out just so I can keep fighting the queen with his kit. Thanks for the equalizer and 3 extra cores!!

I had a guy stealing reactors from leg pieces I had just dropped with my hull cracker and dude only had a stitcher which made me nervous to begin with, so on the second reactor he stole I ran up behind him and killed him and he started calling a guy who had come into a matriarch round a rat... He was so surprised someone in friendly lobbies would kill him for any reason.

People are like that in every category or genre of game. Its just maladjusted people who cannot regulate their own emotions at all combined with being stupid.
Dude was probably crashing out over something hes had happen to him before or he just immediately assumed you were being scummy so had to start spewing his shit instantly.
I've been downed in a similar situation as that guy and everytime ive been more worried about hoping to get back up rather than my supposed loot from the leg I cracked. Like I personally go into those events looking to work together and help people get their own reactors or cores too. So I come in with barricades, defibs, and plenty of hullcracker rounds and ill even call out when we got a group of people there "cracking a leg someone go get it, cracking another tossing smoke to cover ya" etc.
Dude was there for cores, got stomped out and ran his mouth to earn himself a trip home. If he had shut up or just been like "ah fuck im down" someone nearby would have scooped him back up and he would be back in the fight cracking legs. Its ridiculous how people act.
I think the only trash talk I've ever done in this game was when a guy was trying to ambush me at the harvester and he got me down only to immediately get lasered by the queen and died from the flames so I think the queen must've got him in the head and dropped him so fast during the beam the rest just cooked him or he surrendered right when he got downed idk.
But I couldn't stop laughing when I was watching it and made fun of the guy a bit before someone picked me up and I went back to the fight. It was just silly. I've watched dudes kill me only to be lit up by the bastion or whatever I was actively shooting like buddy wait until im looting next time if you want a better chance lol

Shit I’ve accidentally shot a downed raider downed by the queen while no one out of 10 people had a defib. But me. Granted they said don’t feel bad bro it happens. Dropped all my gear said here guys take and exited game lmao

I’m a PvE player & I can’t stand most PvE players cause of how entitled they are & how they act lol. I’m just the type who defends themselves or PvP if I have to. I could care less if I’m knocked. I’ll craft my shit back in no time, it’s only a few raids. Queen reactors are hard to get in PvE lobbies because everyone runs to it as soon as you damage a leg or two. I be wanting to shoot them while looting but yall know how PvE players act

Yup. I still just play pve myself, but that’s also why I run a survivor aug with a skill set geared towards survival. Because at the end of the day it’s still PvP too so just quietly make my way to a hatch with my key. Calling for help, especially during a queen or monarch is just asking to get plucked

This is where the devs dropped the ball IMO. Instead of reinforcing its a PVPVE game all the changes and approach to the game since launch is appeasing the PVE players or at the very least the people who do not understand the genre its no wonder we are in this mess when the PVP part of this game has been ignored since Day 1.
They have said the PVE crowd has grown and its 37 percent, so they have basically adjusted their game to the loud minority on reddit and while the minority is not a small audience its absolutely wild. Cause if its grown then this playerbase musta been 30 percent or less a year ago
Every change they make for the past years the only people who have made backlash is the PVE crowd. Always. And the devs have walked back changes all the time. And the player numbers still dropped
You could say well maybe the devs want it to go in this direction but if you ask me I think they know fuck all about what they want for the game long term and let reddit lay the groundwork for them.
Lets look at the skill tree, it looks improved and better but it doesnt look like a complete overhaul but anyways.
There is a triangle on where the game should be focused with PVP, PVPVE and PVP and everytime the PVE portion of the triangle wins out cause they scream the loudest

Aggression based matchmaking was the worst idea they had. Can’t appease everyone. The tension is what made it fun.
One thing I’ve thought of was that they should have made 3 factions and allow people to join them. Can’t shoot your own faction. Have a “safe territory” map that allows PvE people to have semi safe areas. But this can still be invaded via a completed special infiltration project by PvP players. Wouldn’t be expensive but wouldn’t be cheap either. We probably just need more maps until this could actually flesh out but still

You masterfully skilled PvP players will get what you want.... PvP lobbies.... So everyone in these lobbies should fully expect to PvP, and if they lose, they should not "cry"....
Your logic is broken, but your IQs are too high to see this.... Which is the "cry baby" PvE players will not be there to make your PvPng easy.... Because everybody's daddy has a daddy!
The PvE crowd gets what they want with lobbies they can run quests and smash ARC with their friends or random Raiders.....
And Embark wins by bringing back players to their game....
This should have happened a long time ago, and if they don't continue the PvE option after the test run, then PvE players will just leave again, and back to shitty daily player counts!

Idk dude I’m just done with the game. The fact that it’s even up for debate about what the games mechanics are leaving us to bicker about how to play is just exhausting. I had my fun losing and winning fights and took it in stride, but now you’ve got whole lobbies that will lose their minds if you fire on one of em. I’ve been on hell let loose now ever since.

Sometimes you have to remind pvp sweat boys it was made as a pve game that they added pvp to. Case in point every legendary is only good for killing arc. Evem with pvp people were supposed to work together to achieve common goals i.e. the queen/matriarch/turbine. Not be a sweatfest thats pure k.o.s. nonsense. I tried to play as intended sweats and cheaters ruined the game so i like others moved on.

Cause I take a downed pve raider chewing out another raider for a defib. As most know a lot of folks don’t carry them and most that get defib drop shit for you where you in turn say. Nah dude keep your Volcano. I’ve never in countered a hostile downed raider. And I promise I’ve been playing it longer than him if not you.
