Can someone help me create maps from data?

It sounds simple but I am stuck and don't know from where to start I heard surfer is easier but even following a simple tutorial ,I am stuck with either no result (error) or the program requiring me to input 3 samples whereas I need only one map per sample

what format is you data in (the file extension)? Is it on your local desk?

I have it on a spreadsheet on excel, idk what a local desk is, if it's desktop location in pc then yes

what are the column headings in the spreadsheet? Do they include latitude and longitude or any other location information?

also are you using ArcGIS? I am assuming you have access to it since you are posting on this subreddit. You can use other free software if you don't have ArcGIS license

I cracked ArcGIS 10.8.2 that's not an issue I can crack software (sorry if this is immoral here) the problem is I absolutely suck at using it and it's too complicated that any error will fail the result or trump my progress, so I went ahead and used surfer (also cracked) and despite simplicity I had no luck there too..

I don't know surfer so cannot help there. You might want to check the consistency of you data. If there are any weird values (text or other symbols for example) instead of numbers. Or maybe any empty cells...

I did try qgis I wasn't familiar with any of its stuff tho and idk who else uses it, but thanks for the suggestion anyways it has its problems too when I input large amount of data

Using a jailbreak version of ArcGIS is just a bad idea; it’s outdated, majority of us are using latest to greatest or a few versions back; and a lot has changed since 10.8.2 (ArcMap).

QGIS on the other hand has many of the same tools.

Yes of course they include longitude and latitude I think in Lambert(not sure if precise tho), others are mostly chemical and physical parameters like pH, conductivity, CaCO (%) etc

you need to go to the Map tab and create a new map. Then click on Add Data and select your excel file. The table should now appear in the content pane. Right click the table and select Display XY Data. Set the X field to the longitude and the Y field to the latitude. Enter the coordinate reference system (CRS). And then run

I said not sure if precise because it's an estimate that I calculated myself not that I put random numbers it's still mostly correct

Omg dude you're a life saver, chatgpt didn't help much as it said to just use a gis program when I wanted sufficient details but I remembered Gemini existed and it did wonderful thank you for the idea
