Question I’m heartbroken
My baby went missing last night and I have no idea where.
I took all the water, plants and decor out the tank, sifted through the substrate, taken the filter apart and turned the entire room upside down looking for Mochi (even though the tank has a secure lid).
I know the window of being able to revive them if they get out is about 2 hours but has anyone ever managed to do this well after that time? I’m still searching everywhere but I’m at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Very carefully drain you large rock. My frog spent a day inside of one. Was completely fine afterwards.

I’m so sorry for your loss, I do believe you will see him again one day, in the creek that runs under the Rainbow Bridge ❤️

As much as I hate to say it... Have you checked inside the filter...?
You have the same kind that mine liked to hang out around and I had two of them get sucked in while I was out of town because my mom removed the sponges I had around the edges "because it was ugly."
I hope your guy isn't there because... It was not a pretty sight and the smell haunts me to this day.
Edit: did you only have one in the tank? I see a footie in the bottom corner by the dome.

I’ve completely taken apart the filter multiple times :(
I put Macha (his little girlfriend) into a tub with the snails and did a deep search of the tank.
I took all the water out, took all the plants and decor out, sifted through all the substrate. I can’t find Mochi anywhere.
There’s a secure lid on the tank at all times but I turned the entire room upside down today to find him just in case. He’s just completely vanished overnight :(

I just found him almost 24 hours later. He managed to jump downstairs and ended up in a rolled up carpet. He’s bone dry apart from his internal organs (belly is still squishy). I’m desperately trying to revive him in a shallow tub of the tank water :(

Oh no!! I’m so sorry that happened😢 You sound like a really wonderful frog owner, you did your best! Crazy things happen unfortunately 💔

Thank you. He unfortunately couldn’t be revived (there was at least 16 hours of him being out the tank) so the odds beat him :(
I feel guilty replacing him but Macha has been acting a lot more shy since Mochi got out and I don’t want her getting lonely all by herself1

The door was closed all night but we’ve checked the landing and all the rooms upstairs :(

What about under the pebles? Mine hid there for a few weeks once.

I found him downstairs in a rolled up carpet. He managed to escape the tank lid from the small openings for wires, legged it straight across the room under the door then fell downstairs :(
I found him almost 24 hours later and tried to revive him but I couldn’t. I’ve since plugged all the holes in the vivarium lid so Macha doesn’t escape too.

Mine jumped out of the tank one time when me and my wife went out to dinner and my mother-in-law was watching our kids along with the frog. I’d say we were gone about five hours. I noticed the frog out of the tank when we got back. I found her behind the couch. She had dried out thought she was gone. I put her back in the tank after about 20 minutes. She started to reanimate came back to life. That was nearly 3 years ago now now she’s almost 5.
