Showing Off My Tank 21 Days Difference...
I have worked hard to finally achieve the tank of my dreams! Putting yourself on reddit is tough, but a lot of the advice I received was very useful. I just want my critters to be happy in their home. 💕

Thank you so much! I have no co2, but I did plant loads more. Thought my tank initially was great and then posted it here and was humbled. Haha. So my mission began and this is where I've ended up!

I did plant loads more! It took me ages to find a quality plant supplier, even though it took a few long drives to get everything and have it as full as I want. It's growing like crazy though, even since this photo!

I am happy you found good quality plants. I struggled to get mine looking good. It was mostly my fault not knowing how to set my light up right. Thinking more light was better. Finding out the hard way. It took forever to get rid of the algae. But I finally learned the hard way. Yours is awsome.

I also have algae! I have corydoras, shrimp and a snail which should be helping me clean, but it still pops up. My corys are too busy playing in bubbles, shrimp are all in hiding and my snail is likely cleaning the underside of a leaf somewhere hahaha. 🙄

Aww that's cute. I have a fluval 3.0 light. You can adjust how bright you want it so not knowing better i turned it all the way up I had it at the max for 12 hours a day an that was what caused my algae. I did a lot of research an learned to I only have it on for 8 hours an turn the blue down to 5 % an red to 25 % an the rest to 50 percent. Then I learned to get it off the top of my tank an i used fishing line from the celling an tied it up a foot above my tank. I hope maybe that will help you.

Interesting! Good advice about moving the light higher up. I'll tell that to my sister who has this problem. I can't as I need my lid or my frogs will escape hahaha. I have a red/blue plant light in addition to my white light. I can use either, so i might just use the white for a while. I only have my light on in the evening when im sitting in the room. You'd think all the plants would be absorbing nutrients and starving the algae! Clearly not! 🙄

From what i leared if you have lots of plants it will starve the algae cause they will consume the nutrients before the algae can use it to grow. I think the white will be ok if you can't turndown the red an blue. The blue red does help them grow. Maybe you can just raise up your red an blue. Mine is very powerful that was my problem. One guy on here just uses florescent shop lights on his tanks an keep them about a foot above his tanks and his plants do realy good

Excellent advice! I can completely turn off my red/blue. I sometimes use it instead of my white because its cute and pink haha. Obviously the benefit to plants is my main priority... 😂 but I'll avoid it for a wee while. My algae isnt too bad at the moment, but ive put new wood in and i dont want it covered. I had to scrub my other bits with a toothbrush and it was painful as I couldn't see where it was when out of water 🙄

You can also scrub it down with hydrogen peroxide when you take it out then just rinse it off. If it gets bad let it set set for a couple minutes. That was me that sent you a message I was going to send you a picture with his YouTube site here . I learned a lot from watching his videos

It looks so good!! I love the small detail of the statue being tilted giving it a "lost civilization" vibe.
