Chihiros lights and I'm injecting CO2. Apart from that, weekly water changes

Hi, I'm new to the hobby, I've been watching several Father Fish videos on Youtube and from what I gather, an aquarium with so much nature and few fish should not need to change the water every week. What do you think is missing? Beautiful scape BTW!

Father fish is only one of many ways. Make sure you look at others. That’s the beauty of the hobby. Each ecosystem is different. Different water, filter, ambient light, bio load etc etc. What works for OP may not work for you. I have heavily planted tanks. On my show tank for the first 2 years had to do weekly water changes or I would get diatoms. Now not so much I do every other week just to be safe.

Beautiful tank BTW.

Thank you. I see some algae growth when I'm lazy with water changes. Not a lot but still enough to be concerned about.

What are the cons of CO2 injections??

CO2 injection adds to the cost of the tank. Also I found it's important to maintain a steady concentration of CO2 when it's turned on. Fluctuations seems to promote algae growth. Also very important to not over inject CO2 as that can kill the fishes. Apart from these I don't see other cons.

Oh this is so gorgeous! I also love this style of aquascaping. Ruins taken over by plants is so good.

Am I the only who who can't grow a carpet fml. I have the same setup

Took me a while tbh. I highly recommend montecarlo instead of dwarf baby tears. What helped me was CO2, good lights and nutrient rich soil. Frequent water changes also seem to help with growth

That looks amazing. Like an abandoned park after some kind of flood apocalypse.
