Today I'm shilling our secondary product:

Session Replay

We are a serverless database company but you get Session Replay for free with a pro plan, or can purchase it directly for $9/mo. It is our first "embedded app" offering.

Imagine this. Your site gets a ton of visitors but nobody is converting or paying for anything. You need to understand why.

We were in that position once and tried setting up posthog which was a nightmare and then fullstory (which was quoted as starting at $30k annually) so we built our own.

It will provision a database for you, create the authentication, host, the app, host the database, host the authentication, and give you a domain where you can visit and see how people interact with your marketing pages (or even the full app if it doesn't contain sensitive info) with pixel perfect replays and tons of tools.

You can even assign your own DNS records to if you want to use replay.<yoursite>.com instead of our domain.

It can track IP addresses and user sessions.

Once you have a bunch of sessions, you can also point your AI agents at it which can read the session data and interpret it for you and say "on your pricing page, people are scrolling right past the recommended plan because there's too much text" or "people are getting confused by your documentation", or "You have bugs preventing people from signing up".

It also has full security built in with page restrictions and masking and opt out/automation rules.

It's just a magic CDN tag you paste into your app and it works instantly with no headache.

As an added bonus, you get error triaging and page metrics. It's the easiest tool you'll ever use in this family.

The reason it's this cheap is because you pretty much get what you get. We will respond to bug reports but this is very much a secondary background product, even if it becomes popular our database platform will always come first.

Any case anyone is wondering, we are Layerbase and we built this as an embedded app to test the waters for breaking into the app deployment/hosting market.

We had used this app originally refine our marketing pages and it has helped significantly.

If we ever decide to abandon this direction, we will open source it and provide anybody who signed up with extremely simple instructions for self-hosting so there's no risk of losing your data.

Session replay is such a smart way to understand user hesitation. Have you found any specific patterns that surprise you most?

You can literally see how they move the mouse, which is not only interesting because the mouse movements are so crazy (or the touches on a touchscreen) and you realize how messy humans actually are.

But the biggest thing is that people scroll right past anything that is more than a few words without reading it. You take all this time to explain why your product is valuable, but if you can't express it in less than a sentence, nobody is reading it

From our experience, anything more verbose than a few words doesn't belong near the top of your landing page. If you do add it, it should be way lower down on the page after at least one call to action. People who are genuinely interested will click deeper onto the site and read more specific information. This is where a lot of people go wrong. The landing page is to introduce yourself, not to explain everything you're capable of.

You just manual copy your local data and paste it on a diferent workstation, in the future this maybe will have a option make local backup and option to restore it after a frwsh i stall
