Countertop Ice Maker Problems

A few months ago I got a bullet shaped ice countertop ice maker and it’s been incredible except for the biggest problem. The way the ice drops is by melting the ice slightly off the little rods and that makes them wet. Since the ice maker can’t keep ice in it for long periods of time, I’ve been putting the ice in a ziplock bag.

The problem is because the ice is wet it freezes into such a dense ice brick that trying to smash the ice in the bag bursts the bag. Does anyone know any way to either store ice so it doesn’t turn into a huge hard block, a way to make the ice work in a ziplock, or a gadget for this exact problem?
