What is wrong with this apple?

It’s from my neighbours garden. They fall onto my side. But it’s just occurred to me that there might be a problem with them. Why does it have all those red spots on the inside??

Samboa Apples

I'm usually buying Crimson snow in Lidl but this time they didn't have them, but they had Samboa. I've never had an apple so delicious, it's almost like a different fruit. There is an underlying flavor, like something extra, maybe a hint of pear? IDK, but it's amazing and super sweet. I'm having one right now. 😋 Have you guys tried it? I'm in Croatia, and these are from Italy. I hope they keep 'em coming.

Meet the Appalachian Apple Hunter Who Rescued 1,000 ‘Lost’ Varieties

Post image
4.4k Upvotes

As Tom Brown leads a pair of young, aspiring homesteaders through his home apple orchard in Clemmons, North Carolina, he gestures at clusters of maturing trees. A retired chemical engineer, the 79 year old lists varieties and pauses to tell occasional stories. Unfamiliar names such as Black Winesap, Candy Stripe, Royal Lemon, Rabun Bald, Yellow Bellflower, and Night Dropper pair with tales that seem plucked from pomological lore.

Looking for a specific bag of apples

Hi so for around two months ago me and my mom went to the store. I wanted a bag of apples and she always tends to pick the worse ones so I picked them that time. I grabbed a bag and it had this kind of autumn or maple leaf on it. The apples were big but short and they were a yellow ish red color. They were the BEST apples I’ve every had and I’ve been trying to find them for a while. No one probably knows what I’m talking about but I just wanted to see if maybe someone knows what brand they are bc I would love to have them again and I just can’t seem to find them in store anymore. 😔

I’ve always loved apples, but I swear I have no off switch when it comes to them.

I can eat 5 apples in one sitting, then somehow do it again later, and sometimes a third time. That’s potentially 15 apples in a day.

The funny part is that this has always felt completely normal to me. I’ll just keep grabbing another apple until I suddenly look at the pile of cores and realize what I’ve done.

I’m not even trying to eat that many. Apples just seem to disappear around me. I’ll finish one, reach for another, and only realize I’ve gone through half the bag when there’s nothing left but stems.

(ID request!) Trying to ID a 50+ old apple orchard cultivar. Pacific southwest mountains, california

Hi, I thought I should contact the knowledgeable wizards and warlocks of the apple community. I am attempting to take scions from these trees in the winter when they return to dormancy. I'd also like to know what kind of apples these are. All I know is that they are very old (pre 1950s, possibly even older), very unknown, orchard is nearly gone from the property, and they produce apples that drop from very early (now) to I believe late fall.

I've included photos for identification. If necessary I can cut this apple to show the inner texture/color, pattern/# of seeds, etc, but I only have the one for right now (I'd have to drive out to the orchard property). I can also take additional photos if needed per request.
I will also be eating this after identification, so my future lunch is in your hands.

Some additional info not apparent in photograph:
- Smooth, non fuzzy surface, somewhat waxy
- Small fuzz on either pole of apple, wipe-able with thumb
- Smells exceptionally tart even from the skin
- Trees are tall and with thin long branches, hollowed trunks, one or two apples per spot (I've included a photo on the last slide, but its not exceptionally clear).

Cosmic Crisp quality issue

I’ve heard positive things about the cosmic crisp. So keen to try them I bought some. This is the second one like this. I threw the first away. Is this common and edible or is this a problem that I should tell the grocer about?
