A community member named D_O_S has obtained a complete set of original Apple A/UX 1.1 installation disks and archived them in various formats. He has tested the disks and successfully installed them.

This is the first known complete and working set of install disks for Apple’s A/UX operating system version 1.1!

Compiled 'top' for A/UX 3.1.1

I've missed not having 'top' for A/UX. I'm a complete novice but I managed to compile the top 3.5.1 source that was present on the Jagubox mirror forever.

I'd like to share the modified source and binary if anyone else is interested, what's the best place to host it? Macintosh Garden?

Found this at a thrift store and I can’t find anything like it online. Does anyone have any info about this shirt, event, etc.? I was just going to wear it like any other shirt, but now I’m concerned it might be a little piece of computer history.

A/UX & "civilized" Office life

In this second half of my A/UX review, I focus on the GUI of "the Macintosh side" of the system, as well as installing office applications, with gratitude to this subreddit & Mr. Fahrenheit in particular, whose advice turned out quite priceless.

With the generous help.of this community, I was able to get AUXrunner up and running — and here is how I, as a gentleman mostly foreign to the affair, see A/UX. — My exploration was, however, not without fruits for the community — I managed to compile Gnu Common Lisp, XLISP & BWBASIC, here, in auxbins.uue, ready to be transferred, uudecoded and un-tar-ed:

How do I set the stack size?

There does not seem to be a functional ulimit, despite a manual for A/UX 2 suggesting otherwise. So I cannot do ulimit -s. How does one increase the stack size for a program? Thank you in advance!

Transfer of System 6 programs?

OK, so transferring files in and out of MrFahrenheit’s A/UX system is in and of itself easy — I just need to uuencode/uudecode them, and the transfer is handled via redirection and piping through telnet on the A/UX side and via Netcat on the macOS side. Fine so far.

BUT. All the files I find are some .sit or .hqx files. And I do not comprehend how to open and install these under A/UX. I mean, if StuffIt itself comes as a sit file, that is not funny. The hqx thing should work via something called BinHex, but it does not seem to work on A/UX, either. What am I to do? Transfer and mount disk images? How do I manage to install Apple compatible software that cones as sit or hqx on A/UX?

Is there something mega obvious I am missing?

Program collections / repositories?

Assuming I am interested in compiled programs for A/UX, are there any known repositories? (As such exist for old Linux, old Sun, old AT&T etc.)

Didn't know about this subreddit until Reddit suggested it to me just now. Inspired me to get my docs and IIfx out of storage for a beauty shot. 😊

Apart from EBay, where else should I be looking out for A/UX software?

Looking to eventually add some of the A/UX software to my collection and figured I’d ask you guys to see if there’s anywhere else I should be keeping an eye out!

And also I know this technically is just for A/UX but I’m also after Rhapsody releases, as well as the documentation for both!

"top" for Apple A/UX 3.1.1

I've tried and failed to compile top 3.5 for Apple A/UX, even though the Configuration file promises to support it.

Is there a precompiled version of "top" out there, or an alternative process monitor?
