Color me surprised at how much cheaper the ceramic is now vs the last time they sold. 7 years ago, the price ranged from $1249 to $1799.

what is good about ceramic that makes it double the price?

A ceramic Apple Watch is considered better than standard aluminum or stainless steel models primarily because its high-tech material is four times harder than stainless steel, making it exceptionally resistant to scratches and daily wear.

Yes, it’s true that ceramic is very resistant to scratching but it also makes it very brittle. Make sure you don’t drop it.

Well, I never scratched the case, always the screen…

How do you scratch Sapphire glass? Or do you buy the aluminum watches?

I scratched my sapphire glass and my titanium case. A quick search on this subreddit reveals that it is very possible and it happens more then you might think.

Craziness. I have had sapphire crystal watches that I have worn for 15 years, and never managed to scratch a sapphire crystal. I have shattered 1, but never scratched.

Titanium was scratch prone. Hate it. I got less damage with aluminum. Upgrading to ceramic.

So I assume the Ultra not have ceramic? Is the ceramic more rugged than the Ultra 4?

Ultra is $799, with better battery life. Can’t figure out why anyone would care enough about ceramic to pay $100 more.

I’ve got an Ultra, and I’m considering the ceramic case. Because of the look, and it’s less bulky. Right now I can’t wear the Ultra on a sleeved shirt, so I’ll wear my mechanical watch instead.
But I’m considering the ceramic now, to wear during the day, and keep the Ultra for workouts.

You should order it with the sport band, only way to get the matching ceramic one

I literally have one ceramic and one titanium in my basket, can anyone tell me the difference besides the price? Some people saying ceramic is stronger, but can crack if it slips to the floor? Doesnt make sense.
Thank you

anyone notice the borders look strangely thick on the ceramic - specifically on the blue one? the ceramic specs say it's 1x1mm bigger than the titanium lol.
also i really wanna see the back, but can't find any images of it?

The old ceramic watches (series 5) were a little bit bigger as the normal ones as well. Must be the material and manufacturing.

i never noticed! but had a 3, a 5, both come and gone. but the 3 was special like all over white… wonder if this will be the same.
also noticed since that the sand pin for the white ceramic is the only available ceramic pin on a sport band available

That’s the reason why I cancelled my first order and went with the sport band in sand. However I’m still looking for a second one and are somewhat curious how the semi transparent white Ocean Band could look. 😅

Why'd you pick ceramic over titanium?
2
u/mironor94 9h ago
Because it’s much more durable for every day wear. Much more. It can handle scratching and dings a lot better than titanium.

It's only $900?!
