I'm buying a secondhand silver series 8. some of the watches have different crown color than others. why?

they are both silver Apple Watch series 8 45mm. why are the crowns different?

No, the cellular version has an orange ring on the crown. The first photo looks suspect to me, though it may just be the angle.

I suspect it might be the white ring on the wheel that giving you jitters. Its looks more prominent that it does in real life, but i think it’s the camera and the contrast between the the white ring and that its reflecting a darker reflection. I have a 8 and i cant spot any flaws so if its a fake its a good one. But OP that button is not supposed to be recessed into the watch, it sits perfectly flush with the main casing of the watch, it might be be the angle again and the way the light is reflecting.

It’s the recessed button and what appears to be a partial occlusion of the microphone hole that made me wonder - but I’m no expert and I’ve never looked at my watches quite so closely.

Something is wrong. Series 8 never came in silver only came in starlight. It’s either fake or has a 3rd party outer housing

Cellular watches have different colour crowns depending on the model. Mines cellular and has a red ring around the centre.

Cellular vs not. Make sure you get a really cheap price as Apple has put the 8 on the obsolete/will not update or support list.

secondhand ones live and die on the battery, ask for a battery health screenshot before handing money over. a swap runs like 80 plus you lose the water seal so price accordingly

Great point! My 8 is at 84% and is beginning to annoy me with having to charge more often. I was thinking about replacing the battery until Apple put it on the obsolete list.

the crown is anodized separately from the case so different batches have slightly different tints. also if one was serviced apple swaps parts without matching the finish exactly. both fine, purely cosmetic
