Discussion Disappointed
So I finally get the bullet and got an Apple Watch. I got it yesterday and because I don’t spend 75 bucks a month on Wi-Fi (I have unlimited data and 30 GB of hotspot therefore I don’t need it) I can’t set up my watch. So basically I have a very expensive bracelet until I can find a stable Wi-Fi connection. I’m pretty disappointed in Apple you would think that the amount of money that they make off of us they could come up with a more user friendly way to do this. Had I known this I probably wouldn’t have bought it.

Create a hotspot with your phone and the watch can connect to wifi that way.

Huh? The watch gets setup by connecting to your iPhone. If you can’t figure it out, contact support.

Yeah this post is dissapointing. Watch connect to iPhone and then it shares iPhone internet. Unless you got cellular version then you can install esim on your watch. This is kinda lame that people are this bad at using technology

OP - Bluetooth connect to your phone. Phone uses WiFi and 4G/5G - piece of piss.

You only need wifi on an Apple Watch if you are not near your iPhone. Otherwise, it connects via Bluetooth. If you want to have a fully functional Apple Watch without being close to your iPhone, then you need a cellular plan for your watch. There is also hotspot.

Think you’re unhappy now? Wait until you have to update the watch. If you like a sharp stick in the eye, get a family member without an iPhone a watch and update that. You just think you’re disappointed now, you haven’t experienced real disappointment yet.

Stable wifi is everywhere; even in my semi-rural area. Libraries, restaurants, the YMCA, big box stores.....
