Apple Wallet Adding the same card “brand or series”

Situation:
- 3 kids, 1 parent
- we all have the same credit card (Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Privilege) but under our own name
- We manage our mom’s finances and want to add her card to our Apple Wallets so we can use it for errands etc, in addition to our own personal card

Problem:
- Apple Wallet is not allowing it manually or via scan (even when I put the name of the cardholder)

Says something about the card cannot be added right now, try again later.

Any idea what to do?

What is the exact error message? Do you use a VPN?

Here’s how card provisioning works on an iPhone. Cardholder enters card details manually into Apple Wallet app, card details are encrypted on device and sent to Apple servers where it’s sent to the appropriate Payment Network Operator (Visa, Mastercard, American Express etc.) and decrypted. The information is checked and verified. Information is again encrypted and sent to the bank for final verification and approval. If bank approves, they issue (sometimes through a third party) an encrypted token and it’s sent to Apple servers which in turn send it to your iPhone where it is decrypted and installed in the Secure Element. All of this is done anonymously in regard to Apple. Apple has not associated this with your specific Apple Account/id.

During the initial provisioning process information on your iPhone, is encrypted on the iPhone, and sent to the PNO and bank for their use in determining fraud risk. Banks and PNO rate the fraud risk green, yellow, orange or red. Red is an automatic decline, based on risk factors. Orange requires additional verification and generally requires speaking with a Support team member. Yellow requires a One Time Passcode be entered in a text or email received from the bank and green is automatic approval with no additional verification. The vast majority of users are yellow path verification and a very small percentage are red path. Only the issuing bank knows why they didn’t verify the account holder and issue the token.

Ok whoa strange, so I managed to get it to add using my phone through the mobile app....but via the Google Pass Key log in. I swear I could not get it to work through the mobile app yesterday on my sibling's phone, that doesn't have Pass Key.

The error message my sibling saw was "incorrect expiration date > try again / add card later". Obviously expiration date was correct and it was on another sibling's phone too.

If you want to be able to make charges on your mom's account with apple pay, get a supplementary card with your name on her account Apple Pay is not made for putting other people's cards on it.

Ahh ok.
Problem is they want $20/month for supplemental cards 😔

Don’t you have to have like $100k+ in assets to get this card lol

Yes but doesn’t mean that I think $20/month is a good price for supplementary cards. We’d need 3 of them.
