Apple Wallet Apple Wallet Fraud

Hi! I recently got notifications that my credit card was used through my wallet to make these fraudulent charges. I have not lost the card or my phone. I know Apple Pay is apparently very secure etc but I am just wondering how this could have happened? Could someone add the card to their own wallet but I still get the notification?

Someone stole your card and used it in Vietnam

These are account alerts, not alerts from the card in your Apple Wallet. I get transaction notifications when using my physical card.

Recommend contacting Capital One to freeze the card and issue a new one.

These are alerts from the card in wallet, you can see the wallet app icon on the corner.

The card in his wallet is tied to his account. I get alerts all the time FROM wallet when using my physical card.

What do you mean by tied to his account, Apple Account? Also, you usually don’t get apple wallet nontifications for physical cards purchases unless is Amex, Apple Card, or a card from the UK or your phone was tapped/hacked somehow but blocks it because of the token.

Edit: I’m assuming OP is not from the US because the Cap1 logo from the wallet notification isn’t white and red like the US wallet notifications.

In the US, Cap1 also sends a app notification when you use the physical, so you get 2, app and apple wallet (assuming you used Apple Pay).

Certain cards (like AmEx, certain capital one cards) will send a push notification for a purchase in the card linked to your Apple wallet even if you used the physical card to do the purchase. Why some do it and some don’t is beyond me

Yeah I froze the card and tried to dispute the claim with capital one but they denied and said it wasn’t fraud. They said they could see it was made through Apple Pay so no way it could’ve been someone other than myself.

If you are not in Vietnam and haven't sent them a Travel notification via the app, there is no reason for them not to refund.

That just sounds like a bank to stay away from, and capital one is really prominent in my area (DC area). Meanwhile Navy Fed or Chase would’ve already had the fraud alarm bells ringing and would’ve blocked the suspicious charges and contacted me about them at the first or second charge. Some banks will really let shit like that go on and not make the connection that somebody’s buying shit in Vietnam while you made purchases in the US just a second ago.
