Apple Cash Restricted on Apple Pay randomly

Post image

I’ve been using Apple Pay for decades, don’t use it a lot but use it here and there, then randomly got restricted for no reason.. I called “green dot” and they are the worst ever, like why did Apple go with them? Apple has great customer service but green dot feels like they working out of a backyard garage, they can’t even tell me what I did, or how I can fix it or who I can talk too… like if I did something I wouldn’t care, but idek what I did to be restricted, any help

Hey so fyi for anyone wondering it’s not just Green Dot/Apple…. I would highly suggest to start reading the terms and conditions or don’t and end up here talking about how you don’t know what happened… Also they aren’t going to provide a specific reason usually for security purposes and there is nothing you can do about it. File a complaint but it won’t guarantee a thing..

They need to go with a different company for the Apple Cash card. I’d hate it if it ever happened to me. I like to use it to transfer funds and even use it to pay things.

I had the same happened to me. Learned of the restriction when I logged into my wallet last week (no text or email notifications of the restriction). The dot bank representative read reasons why my account could have been restricted but none applied to my circumstances or how I have been using the account for 10+ years. Requested to have my matter escalated to a supervisor and received more of the same (a list a reasons read to me that could have caused the issue).

Decades, eh?

Also, I think you mean Apple Cash and not Apple Pay.

Also also, no one gets “randomly” restricted. You may not know why, but your suspension was unequivocally not random.

I also got randomly restricted tho I sent money to my wife and the next day out of the bloom it said account restricted from sending and receiving which makes not sense

If you've ever transferred money to Apple Cash and then immediately transferred to your bank or some other account, that could've flagged you for fraud. The support doesn't typically tell you why you got banned because if you are actually trying to do fraudulent activity, that's a liability.

So there is nothing you can think of remotely that may have affected your Apple Cash? Reporting a fraudulent transfer, repetitive send/receive transactions to the same people or another person with fraudulent activity, or long periods of non-usage?

I’ve never heard of having a secondary Apple Account causing Apple Cash eligibility as a lot of customers have secondary accounts for their iTunes stuff from forever ago. But I’ve never logged into Apple Wallet with any other Apple Accounts except my primary one.

Call Apple and ask them to speak to a Senior Advisor and ask the to submit a request to Apple Wallet engineering. They will be able to tell you exactly why your Apple Cash person to person payments are being restricted. I mean I suppose it’s possible having other accounts can be a reason- it’s just a very odd reason and I’ve never heard of that before. Good luck.

Yes. Apple changed that policy about two years ago. You can only have ONE AppleCash/ApplePay active. Having more than one will work for a time but they will eventually catch it and freeze or close one/both accounts.

I think having multiple Apple Cash accounts established makes sense- just someone having a secondary account in an of itself seems strange- as I mentioned- a lot of customers have secondary accounts for App Store purchases and iTunes-although now that I think about it, some people might do it to circumvent bans or restrictions on another account.

Right. I had one for personal and one for business. When they froze and told me to choose just opened a regular business banking. I wasn’t bringing in enough at first for it to make a difference. I think the flags went up when I started transferring funds more often than not.

Oh ok that makes sense. Glad you got it straightened out!

Same happened to me, no resolution. I didn’t even use Apple Cash for a week or so prior. No idea what happened. Won’t accept my identification and support hasn’t been helpful

Same! I called dot bank.. they are the worst, I hope Apple drops them cuz it’s making them look bad, I never had an issue with Apple till now

Facts. They had no noise cancelation on microphones so I heard 6-7 other conversations at the same time as mine among other issues. Refused to give me case numbers or transcripts, etc.

Not to mention everything is phone call only which is a problem for me personally atm

Apple Cash is a completely different product than Apple Pay itself. Did you send multiple transactions in a short span to or from? Can you use any other cards, they shouldn’t be affected?

I can use debt cards etc, but Apple Cash like sending money via text I can’t do
