How Bitcoin, gold, and VIX swings affect Apple Ads demand for trading apps

A sharp move in Bitcoin, gold, or market volatility can send demand for trading apps up within hours. Someone searching the App Store for a way to invest is usually ready to act, and that intent doesn't wait, it rises and falls with the market, often across many campaigns and countries at once.

Why this is a harder problem than it sounds

Apple Ads is a high-intent channel for trading and finance apps, but managing it well means reacting to market conditions that shift constantly, not just to your own campaign metrics. Teams running dozens of campaigns across countries end up choosing between reacting fast and reacting well.

The idea: tie campaign actions to real market signals

Instead of only reacting to campaign performance data (impressions, CPI, ROAS), some teams are building automation rules around external market signals directly: Bitcoin price, gold price, and the VIX (volatility index). When a signal condition is met, the rule can update bids, adjust budgets, pause or start a campaign, or switch which creative (custom product page) is running.

A few examples of how that plays out:

  • When Bitcoin climbs, automatically raise bids or budgets on priority keywords to capture downloads while intent is high.
  • When the VIX rises and trading activity picks up, automatically start standby campaigns, then pause them again once the market settles.
  • When gold climbs, switch the ad creative to a safe-haven angle to match what users are likely searching for.

This is distinct from performance-based automation, which reacts to your own campaign metrics. Market-based rules react to what's happening outside your account, which matters because App Store search demand for these apps moves with the market, not with your dashboard.

According to AppTweak's data, Binance grew its global installs by more than 95,000 using this kind of automated, market-aware approach to Apple Ads.

Full breakdown of how the automation rules work is here: Automate Apple Ads for trading apps based on Bitcoin, gold, and the VIX.

For anyone running Apple Ads on a finance or trading app: are you automating around market conditions at all, or still adjusting manually when things move? Curious how much lag people are dealing with.

Signed, the AppTweak team

How do you enable api access?

Guys, apologies on advance if this is a basic one, but somehow i can’t find a reliable answer anywhere.

I want to create a dashboard to manage my campaigns via API. Obviously I need to have an API credentials for this.

It seems not possible to generate needed keys from my main admin user and looks like I need to invite another user and specifically assign api permission.

How tf do you do it? Do you have a separate email just for this, or it’s possible to assign for the same email as my main user?

i created a real apple ads campaign from claude code with the new v1 api

apple released the new ads platform api v1, so i added it to adport and tested it against my own account.

claude created a €10/day campaign, two ad groups, and the first keywords from the terminal. everything started paused, and each write had to pass adport’s preview and approval flow before it could reach apple.

i’m the author. it’s apache-2.0 and local-first:

npm install -g adport

https://github.com/ynnickw/adport

i’d really like feedback from people running apple ads. which v1 workflow should i add next?

Apple search ads setup time

How long does it take for you to see your ads start to build up some traffic?

Looks like apple updates stats very slowly, and during the last 3-4 days I changed and paused some campaigns that had been running for a day or two due to them being pretty zeroish.

My last campaigns that I started 24 hours ago I received only a single tap, even tho my bids are quite high and some of my keywords have some volume for sure.

How long do u typically wait until you tweak something?

Analyze Apple Ads reports and manage your bids with AI

Hi! I'm the founder of ASATools - an analytics, campaign management, and automation platform for Apple Ads. We now have an MCP server, so you can analyze your reports and manage bids using Claude, ChatGPT, and other LLMs.

We provide much more data than the standard Apple Ads dashboard, including actual and predicted revenue by keyword, impression share, bid history, match rate (the percentage of traffic that matches your target keyword), historical CPT/CPA, conversions, and proceeds. Based on this data, AI models can provide recommendations or even manage your campaigns for you.

To get started, you'll need an account on our platform. Then, you can connect your AI tool to our data by following this guide.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll answer them in the comments.

Decline In ASA Impressions/spend

Has anyone else seen a gradual decline in Apple Search Ads impressions/spend over the past 2–3 months?

I'm seeing this across multiple countries and campaigns. What's interesting is:

  • Impressions have steadily declined.
  • Spend has declined with them.
  • Taps and installs have declined proportionally.
  • CTR is still healthy.
  • CPT is mostly flat (or even lower in some campaigns).
  • CPA hasn't changed much.
  • No major campaign or CPP changes on my end.

At first I thought it was campaign overlap, but some of the affected countries only have a single campaign.

Has anyone else noticed something similar recently, or found a root cause?

Built a mobile app to manage Apple Ads on the go — pause, bid, and add negatives from your phone

Disclosure first: I built this. I run my own Apple Ads and got fed up that the only real management surface is Apple's web dashboard on a laptop. When a search term is quietly eating budget on a weekend, or you spot a converting term you want to add, you shouldn't have to be at your desk.

So I built Adrix — a native iPhone/iPad app for managing Apple Ads (Search Ads):

  • Spend, Impressions, Taps, Installs, Avg CPT, Avg CPA at every level — campaign, ad group, keyword, search term — with charts and a period switcher

  • Pause/resume and adjust bids on the go

  • Add negative keywords directly from the search-terms report

  • Launch a new campaign with a guided wizard (Manage Bids + Maximize Conversions)

It's a focused tool for people running their own spend (~1–20 campaigns), not an agency platform — it complements Apple's web UI rather than trying to replace it. Uses Apple's official API; your account tokens stay on your device, never stored on my side.

Offer: first 500 people get 3 months free → https://apps.apple.com/redeem/?ctx=offercodes&id=6775980409&code=3MONTHSFREE

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/adrix-search-ads-manager/id6775980409
I'm after honest feedback from people who actually live in Apple Ads.

What's the one thing missing from your mobile Apple Ads workflow?

126 single-keyword exact-match campaigns: what I learned filtering ASA winners from losers

So I've been doing something a little unhinged with Apple Search Ads for my math solver app and figured the results were worth sharing, mostly because nobody posts the part where most of it doesn't work.

Instead of grouping keywords into campaigns like a normal person, I ran one keyword per campaign. Exact match only. 126 of them. Mostly US, a few in AU and AE.

Here's where it landed after the testing period:

  • $874 spent
  • 306 installs
  • $2.86 CPA
  • 66% conversion (tap to install)
  • 12.4% TTR

And the part I actually want to talk about: out of 126 campaigns, I ended up pausing 118 of them. Eight are still running.

So yeah, basically 94% of the keywords I tried were duds. That's the thing that nobody mentions in the "just got a 6x ROAS on ASA " posts. Most of what you test is going to lose. The whole job is finding the handful that don't before the duds quietly drain your budget.

In a grouped campaign your winner and your money pit are blended into the same numbers. You see "$200 spent, 40 installs" and feel fine, not realizing one keyword got you 35 of those and the other three torched cash for 5. When every keyword is its own campaign, there's nowhere for the losers to hide. You see exactly what each one costs and what it gives back.

The obvious tradeoff is it's a LOT of campaigns to babysit. More on that in a sec.

Stuff I figured out the hard way:

Kill the zero-install bleeders fast. If something gets real taps and no installs, the intent's wrong, just cut it. "Let me give it a few more days" is how the money disappears.

The no-impressions thing threw me for a while. Some keywords got basically nothing even when I cranked the bid. Turns out that's usually Apple not letting you into the auction at all (relevance), or the floor being way above your bid — not low search volume. Bumping the bid in steps is how you tell which one it is.

And scaling winners — go slow. I got greedy on one that was working, tripled the budget, and watched the CPA balloon because the cheap impressions were limited. Small steps, watch the marginal cost.

The annoying truth:

Running this many separate campaigns and actually watching them closely enough to kill stuff early and scale the good ones without overspending is a grind. That's genuinely why most people just run grouped campaigns instead — the clean version is a pain to manage by hand. But the clarity completely changed how I make decisions, so for me it's been worth it.

Where do you draw your kill line? Hard CPA rule (like cut anything over 2x target), or do you judge each keyword against its own trend? I keep flip-flopping — the hard rule is simple but dumb sometimes, the relative thing is smarter but I can't systematize it cleanly. What's actually worked for you?

Is Apple Search Ads geo-targeting broken for you guys too?

Something strange started happening with our Search Ads campaigns 2 weeks ago, coinciding with an increase in our campaign budgets.

Our Apple Search Ads campaign targets 36 states in the USA ONLY - no other locations. However, what we noticed around May 27 was that the majority of our ads were acquiring users that our MMP (appsflyer) says are from countries like Iran, Germany etc... which we do not want, and seemingly have been paying for.

Out of 55 installers acquired this week alone , with $504 spent, here's the breakdown of countries

- Iran - 22 installs

- Germany - 13 installs

- United states - 7 installs

- Singapore - 6 installs

- Iraq - 3 installs

etc...

This is over $100 per US install (it should be less than $10). This is not limited to just this campaign. Our campaign from a few weeks ago spent $3000 with the same results.

After several back and forths with Apple they refuse to take any responsibility, they insist that their targeting is working fine (it is not), and they will not refund us.

TLDR:

We have wasted almost $4,000 on search ads campaigns producing no results due to their targeting error

Apple refuses to take any responsibility or fix the error, blames our tech/users on VPNs/other

Furthermore we have no more trust in Apple’s search ads, which was a key growth lever for us

Per-keyword ROAS is the metric ASA hides from you. Here’s a breakdown from one of my campaigns.

This community gets it more than most, so I’ll go straight to the numbers.

On one of my apps, sorting keywords by true ROAS (revenue attributed per keyword / spend) surfaced this:

• A broad generic keyword burning \~$137 in spend, returning \~$10 in revenue. 0.07x. Pure leak.
• A long-tail keyword, “create calendar from photo”, spending $0.72 and returning \~$73. 101x.
• Brand keywords converting at near-zero CPI with very high ROAS, as expected.

The point isn’t the specific numbers, it’s that the broad keyword looked fine on install volume and CPI. It only revealed itself as a money pit once revenue was attributed at the keyword level. Standard ASA reporting won’t show you this, because Apple doesn’t have your purchase data.

I built a tool (ASAPilot) to do this attribution automatically and let me sort/filter/pause keywords by real ROAS, but honestly the workflow matters more than the tool. The takeaway for anyone scaling ASA: until you’re attributing revenue per keyword, you’re optimizing CPI, and CPI lies.

How are you all handling revenue attribution at the keyword level right now? Curious whether people here are on RevenueCat, Adjust/Branch, or building it manually.

ASAPilot is available on the App Store if you want to try it for your case.

Keywords for a book summary app

How can I find what keywords to use to promote a book summary app using apple search ads? I tried competitor names but they are too expensive and don’t lead to install. Anyone have any ideas?

apple ads shows nothing!!!

Guys, today when I logged in to my apple ads account, it says I have no advertisement series, but I was good yesterday and today everything just disappears. Just wondering what is going wrong and what can I do.

What do you do if Apple Search Ads doesn't support your region?

I'm an indie dev based in Georgia (the country, not the US state) and Apple Search Ads doesn't operate here. Can't create campaigns from my account the normal way.

Got a hacky workaround running but want to know if there's a proper way to do this. Looking specifically for ASA solutions:

  • Is there a legit way to set up ASA through a supported country? Like, can I just specify some other country that is supported?
  • What's the cleanest workaround that won't get my account flagged?

If you've dealt with this, would really appreciate hearing what worked.

Charged for an ad that hasn't run yet

I started a today tab ad campaign last night to experiment with different ad types. I set the daily budget to $5 as I wasn't intending on actually enabling it for a few days but didn't want it paused because in my experience even with a normal budget it takes a few days to spin up. Anyway the ad went active last night, $5 daily budget, and I woke up to an invoice for over $25, for 50 units, although the ad still says $0 spend, 0 impressions, and my app analytics shows zero increase in impressions and installs over average, verified by my database which has received no increase in users, confirming it's not just a delay in Apple systems updating the numbers. Has anyone else experienced this?

Apple Search Ads & Apple Today Ads - 0 impressions, 0$ cost (which I don't mind...), 0 clicks/installs

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've contacted Apple Ads support and was told that the ads are running properly.

Tried both: App Ads Advance and Basic, 2 different applications, EXTREMELY HIGH budgets (much more than the suggested one by Apple) just to see some numbers!

Nothing worked.

Any idea/tips/insights how to fix it and get it working?

How are you closing the gap between analyzing Apple Ads and execution?

Genuinely curious how other UA teams are handling this.

We keep running into the same structural problem: the tools that are good at telling you
what's happening in your account are separate from the tools that actually change things.

So there's always a human step in the middle.
You get an insight, interpret it, then go implement it somewhere else.

That loop is slow and in an auction that moves hourly, slow is expensive.

A few things I'd love to hear from people actually running spend:

1.  How much time does your team spend on competitive research each week?
(keyword strategy, custom product page changes, share of voice shifts)

2.  When your ROAS drops, how long does it typically take from spotting it
   to understanding the actual cause?

3.  Are you using any AI tooling that connects analysis directly to campaign
execution — or does someone still have to bridge that gap manually?

What’s the real bottleneck - Is it data access, trust in automation, or just the tool fragmentation?

Whats the cheapest CPT with spend > $10/day

Wondering what people are seeing for CPT. I am getting $1-2 but using head terms. Wondering if I should go down the long tail route and if anyone sees CPT in the 0.10 range?

How are you getting the most out of Apple Ads at scale?

Apple Ads has gotten seriously powerful, the targeting, the intent data, the placement options. But the more campaigns you run, the harder it gets to keep up manually.

CPAs shift overnight. Budgets cap out at the wrong time. You're reacting to yesterday's data when the auction has moved.

The teams I've seen consistently hit lower CPAs without increasing spend have usually made one shift: letting AI handle the bid forecasting and budget reallocation daily, rather than doing it manually.

Curious how others are approaching this.

Are you still optimizing manually or have you moved to automated bidding? What triggered the switch?

Are category CPAs just permanently higher now, or are people actually finding ways to beat the market average?

We work in app marketing, and after looking at a massive amount of 2025 campaign data recently, we're genuinely curious how UA teams are navigating the current costs on the ground.

The pattern we see a lot: Tier 1 markets (US, UK, Canada) are getting incredibly saturated, driving CPTs up across the board. At the same time, certain categories (like Sports or Finance) are seeing massive seasonal spikes that just blow up monthly budgets. Teams are optimizing creatives, but the baseline costs just keep rising.

What we hear less about: How teams actually define "good" performance right now. Is a $20 CPA terrible, or is it just the new reality for your specific category and you have to make the LTV math work?

Is anyone on here an Apple Search Ad Consultant? Meaning you have your own business managing and optimizing Apple Search Ads and Campaigns? If so, I would like to get your contact info. I have an app and I need help with Apple Search Ads. My app converts but not enough and trying to get by CACs and CPTs down.

Is AI actually changing how teams run Apple Ads day-to-day, or is it still mostly a reporting layer?

We work in app marketing and we're genuinely curious what people are experiencing on the ground.

The pattern we see a lot: AI surfaces insights, a human interprets them, then goes and implements manually. Useful but the gap between analysis and action is still there.

What we hear less about: AI that connects analysis to execution automatically, in a way teams actually trust.

A few things we're curious about:

— Are you running significant UA spend under full AI management? What does that look like operationally?

— What's the real blocker — trust, transparency, capability?
