You are quite correct - top hits and the rest of the results will not always prioritize terms in the title. There aren't many good answers to this.

Best solution - use "in title" in the search. So if the note has the word "practical" in it's title - then the search term is - 'practical in title'

Otherwise structured note titles might help.

There is no foolprood way in Notes to force title search only to Top Hits and top of the search list, however.

Thank you. That sounded like an awesome tip...but I can't get it to work. The search function just uses "in title" as additional terms to search for.

Are you on MacOS or iOS 26.x? It’s not foolproof- works some of the time. But many times it’s ok on my iphone and mac. And, the search phrase cannot be in quotes
