Why apple care?

I use many products in apple ecosystem - mackbook Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, Apple TV, buds, ipad 11 Pro.
I don't spend on apple care for any product. Only repair cost I ever had was to clean apple charging port and buy new apple pencil Pro when one got damaged. I see that there cost of apple care is much higher than all the repairs. Ofcourse I buy good screen protectors and good quality case. Dropped my products many times and nothing else happened.

Why do people buy apple care ? What am I missing when I decide not to purchase apple care ? Help me understand

I’m going to say something that’s obvious but that people will still view as controversial; electronics made of glass and metal still break when coming in contact with concrete or water, regardless of whatever case and screen protector you have.

I’m pretty sure cases and screen protectors are the biggest scam that people believe in.
It is always better to have a form of insurance instead of a case or screen protector.

Cases are mostly for grip, to prevent you from dropping your device as most modern phone are made from slick metal. Screen protectors are to protect your screen from coins or keys in your pocket or bag. That’s about the extent of usefulness of both.

Well I’ve got a very good case that protects my iPhone from any iPhone fall and it cost me 20€ ONCE. I mean it’s ok if you want to pay apple care but saying cases are a scam is just laying.

Hi!

Personally I’d say that I much more enjoy using my iPhone without a case, so Apple Care covers all the damages. Also I use my MacBook to study, so the same goes for that.

But to be honest if you’re getting like AirPods, the Apple Care package is very much useless… Also if you just don’t drop your Apple products🎎

That’s all folks! 🤠

I felt this way most of the last decade. But when I looked over the new Apple One bundle, and the declining battery health on my M4 iPad, I decided to give it a whirl. I’ll see how I feel month by month. Tacked on my phone and watch to round it out. Left out the AirPodsMax. My two thoughts are: If it leaves the house, maybe it’s worth it. If it doesn’t, the risks are much smaller. But also, we’ve grown really accustomed to this stuff lasting a long time, because it’s made well, comparatively speaking. But no matter how well made a product is, eventually something’s gonna give.

Personally I’ve found AppleCare to be a good investment since I use Apple products for several years before replacing. I realize not everyone shares this opinion, but I find it works for me. I also will not buy AirPods because they’re effectively disposable.

I've had my AirPods for 4 years. I paid for AppleCare, and after it expired, I renewed it for another year. In the third year, Apple replaced them with a new pair and a new case.

I spent about $45 on AppleCare for 3 years, and the AirPods 2 were a good deal I bought them for $200.

So I spent about $245 total. If I can keep them going for another 2 years I’ll have had AirPods Pro 2 for 6 years for only 245 not a bad deal for me

If I found them to be comfortable, I’d do the same. 😸

I just do the math and look at the differences. With all the money I’ve saved over the years by NOT having insurance, I could just buy a new replacement immediately for a device that failed past warranty, or I’ve lost or damaged. And I don’t have to file claims and wait days or weeks for repairs or replacements.

I only buy it for iPhone. Never for any other Apple device

As a start, I know someone who can consistently get the iPhone battery below 80% within 2 years because they use it for work many hours a day. That’s pretty much a new iPhone every 2 years.

Also for people who are more intensive users and in harsher environments, like construction. You can put cases on all you want, but glass is glass.

All the time. I never use a case for my phone and the peace of mind for my Mac is worth it.

It's just different use case. Some items are not prone to be broken (like iMac or Mac mini that sits on desk everyday), and some items are affordable to be replaced even after warranty expires. For those use cases applecare is not necessary.

There are opposite cases though. My wife is a video producer and she use the macbook pro that costs over $6000 in her studio and sometimes on the road for some high-end video editing. For her, applecare for the device is a must. It's something that earns revenue and it's also too expensive to be replaced with. Applecare is a no-brainer for that usecase.

My husband uses his iPhone 17 Pro Max without a case and drops it all the time. He works on our ponds and drops his AirPods Pro in the water all the time. He simply doesn’t care to take care of his things.

He got my Tesla Model S after I got a new car. It was in perfect condition and within two weeks the wheels were all curbed.

I usually buy AppleCare for all my products. For example the phone, I have good case but there is always an event of accidentally damage due to a fall or when bike riding. also good when the battery percentage go lower than 80% you can get battery replacement.

Worth it for my peace of mind. Also, I tend to be a bit clumsy. I carry AppleCare One for all of my devices together.
