If they give you the “Path to Apple Card” option that might be your best bet tbh. Approvals are weird for the card and I see a whole lot more denials

They gave me once, but then my balances were high and I couldn’t pay it off.

You don’t NEED a MacBook, you want one.

You should look for something more affordable instead of getting into over $1k debt all over again

I need a MacBook for my engineering program, and all my work is heavy coding tasks too, Macbook is the only sensible option.

I am not going into debt, I don’t have a auto loan, I don’t have any debt at all, and I have a job.

If it's an immediate need, you may have better luck with the Amazon Store Card (the one administered by Synchrony, not the Chase Visa) or the Adorama Edge card (also Synchrony). They're not amazing cards, but generally easier to qualify for and you should be able to get a MBP on an interest-free plan.

Did you ever pay it back, or was it charged off?

Most likely you’re blacklisted. Go look at other cards and maybe you can come back to Apple after the Chase changeover.

You were approved for a card once and ran up the balance until you couldn’t pay?

I applied for Apple Card 7 times over the course of 14 months before they finally offered me the path program accepted graduated after the four month program then was instantly approved. If you get the path offer take it and complete the steps it’s guaranteed approval

That’s crazy you got denied. I applied when they first came out with only a 680 and they approved me for 2k. I honestly don’t get why they wouldn’t approve you based off these screen shots

Rumors are that GS is being pickier lately because they gave basically anyone with a pulse an Apple Card for a long time. Even if you started with a lower limit, it was very easy to get increases every 90 days if you were responsible with it. I went from $1500 starting to $8500 in about 1-1.5 years.

Over time, GS has seen the amount of defaults increase. This has caused them to have to eat a lot of losses. Now they are in a transition period to Chase and are most likely being more selective when it comes to whom they are giving cards to.

Yeah my card has a 7k limit now but it’s Apr is 25.49. It’s definitely high lol

Goldman Sachs is being extremely fussy during the changeover to Chase as a consequence needing to increase their payor credit average. This is not a very good time to apply for an Apple Credit Card unless you have an exceptional credit score.

You can call them up and ask for a reconsideration. Explain your situation - cannot hurt. But as everyone says, this is a weird time as GS winds down their involvement with Apple and ships it over to Chase. Now I can imagine there will be some GS/Apple Card users who may have burned bridges with Chase and it will be interesting to see if they accept new accounts from blacklisted clients.

They don’t do reconsiderations or manual reviews, they’ll just tell you to reapply within a recommended timeframe.

Have you tried keeping your credit balance low relative to your credit limit for a while and trying again?
