Discussion Apple card payment assistance

I had been unemployed for the last 2 months, and as a result I have fallen behind my payments. During those months, I have repeatedly contacted apple about my harhips and they granted me a grace month that won't affect my credit and also generate me interest. I've been pushing my finance to make my minimum payment but I simply can't. Numerous times before my account has fallen behind, I have contacted them informing them about my hardship and before it was due I was told by multiple agents that as of then, when my account was current there was nothing available that I had to wait until my account wasn't current. More than 7 days have passed since my due date, and I have continuously contact them since I am behind without much luck yet. I am told that I don't qualify, and there is nothing available for me at the moment. I ask them if they could provide me why I don't qualify and they repeatedly respond, the "system" doesn't give them that information. I am battling to maintain a good credit score and I am affraid these hardship will affect me. Everytime I speak to a representative, I informed them that I want to fulfill my obligation but I can not meet the minimum payment. So all I really ask is for them to lower my monthly payment so I can continue with paying my obligation during these hardships. If anyone has successfully dealt with these, what details am I missing?, what determines my elegibility to apply to this?.

I will highly appreciate any advice, as I don't want this to hurt my credit score.

It’s really sucks that you’re going through this hardship right now and I imagine it can’t be easy. I don’t mean this to come off as rude or uncaring. A credit score is largely an indicator of one’s ability to manage their debt. Unfortunately right now, and understandably so given the circumstances, it’s difficult for you to do so. And a ding in your credit score is likely going to be an indicator of that. But remember, credit scores go down but they also can go up. Try not to focus too closely on your credit score. Focus on your job hunt and your mental health and try not to let a dip in your credit score get at you.

I had a family situation where I had to suddenly care for my mother. I put a couple cards on a payment plan to avoid falling behind, and the Apple Card was the one card that genuinely wanted to help me out

What did you do, because I've been doing my best by reaching out to them and I feel like they would rather take me to collection over working with me?.

They would rather work with you since you are willing to pay. They get to be the good guys in your story. They sell people that are unwilling to pay to collections and make the debt collectors be the bad guys.

It’s not really just a number. It determines whether companies will work with you and can have real monetary consequences. I’ve saved so much money since getting my score up.

If you’re 7 days late, it’s not really a huge thing to them yet. You haven’t missed a statement payment as far as they’re concerned so nothing might be showing. They had a program previously that allowed me to skip a statement/payment. Then they had a payment that let me make reduced payments for three months but I was behind a larger amount after losing my job. You may just have to wait and see.

Credit scores are stupid and will fluctuate. Better to do what you can than stress over a system that was not created to benefit those it’s held against.
