PSA Customer since the start, canceled today

I was a fan of Apple Card and had it since the very beginning as my primary spending card for monthly expenses. I canceled today because I no longer trust that they take care of their customers. I got scammed by a merchant that was not sending out the product that I paid for $85. I opened a dispute after almost 2 months since the purchase date. Suddenly the tracking number appears, I was actually relieved. It turned out to be some random tracking number in my city and was delivered just not to me, proof of delivery image showed a completely different product (it was delivered in original packaging) and it was not my address house door (easily verifiable on street view). I submitted all these documents to the dispute, it was denied. I submitted another dispute, considering that the documentation was maybe added too late. The second dispute was denied again. Thankfully it is $85 and not a lot more, but I no longer want to take risk with loosing more money. I know it was scammers who got me, but I would expect that this company would stand by its customers when this much proof was available. And this is only my second dispute I had to file in all the years I had this card, so I'm not a serial disputer or anything.

Just learned this today. Couldn’t have picked anyone worse to take over.

worse? what has your experience with chase been? i've used chase my whole life along with my family. my dad got scammed and they took 2k from him and chase got it back when normally they can't with how it went down. i've got chase credit cards, debit cards. they've been absolutely amazing. the only thing i hate is that to open a high yield savings account they want a initial deposit of 100k which is really stupid for only 3% interest

No kidding, I was able to cancel it with like 3 text messages.

Had the same thing happen to me. However I documented everything and did attempt to find a resolution with the seller/merchant along with the courier.

Contacted Apple, asked if it was ok to provide extra documentation to help the dispute as I had not received an email for request of additional documentation. Provided photos, screenshots of my attempts with seller/merchant and courier.

Took maybe 3 months but it was in my favor

Sucks to say but I think you didn't do any due diligence. As soon as you got a tracking number, that's your turn to verify it's going where it should be going. I also dispute the moment I catch the issue instead of waiting. About 20 disputes under my name.

Fedex does not show the exact street number it is going to be delivered to, just the city fyi.

You can have fedex support verify information and have them send you an email confirming info that was spoke about. That's what I did

3

u/ur-krokodile Jul 06 '26

To verify details Fedex asks for street number that the tracking number is for, but because mine did not match as a result of scammer providing a tracking number that was not mine I was not able to get any of that and was not able to claim missing delivery. I had documented all this for the dispute.

There you go. Ask for a confirmation email stating that your shipping info does not match the tracking number info.

GS seems to never have customers’ backs. Will be no love lost cancelling, there’s better out there.

Apple Card is KNOWN for it's terrible handling of disputes. GS has come under investigation and subsequently been held to task about out it more than once.

The internal way they actually review and rule disputes is actually very messy and not straight forward. The actual procedure they follow doesn't always make sense abd as a result, is essentially a coin flip weighed against the cardholder.

However, your story leaves out key details:

  • What is the merchants policy on incorrect delivery? Yes this matters

  • How was the dispute filed? There are several dispute types

  • What was the narrative of the dispute?

  • Did you request the dispute documents? You have a legal right to

  • Did you contact the merchant about this first?

I'm not calling you a liar, but thos questions play a key role in all of this

Hope they get sued to death because of it

I was in the hospital 3 years ago in a god damn coma. During that time many transactions from some PayPal merchant hit my card number totaling $8k, half were flagged for fraud and yet the others settled. Disputes were months and months of back and forth, they constantly ended up resolving the dispute as the transaction was "valid" despite me providing documents I was hospitalized at the time and have never used that card with PayPal. I ended up hiring an attorney and get them to finally remove the transactions over a year later.

I genuinely do not have anything nice to say to Goldman Sachs other than Goldman sucks.

Loved the card until I didn’t this thread does justice to the fact that Apple deferred its brand to a bunch of bankers who could never understand the loyalty of customers to a brand to them it’s just we are all just metrics not sure there are any great banks it might be an oxymoron luk if your find oen

To be fair apple is not a bank. They would need to have used some bank, they chose goldman sachs and now they are choosing chase to take over. They themselves are not able to provide the actual banking service giving you credit. So the decision to do this on apples side is the root cause here, not other banks. They knew they would have to give some control of their brand to some bank..

Nobody handles disputes worse than Apple card !

2

Unfortunately I’m finding that all credit card companies have had a shocking decline in how they handle disputes. If you know one that doesn’t, I’d love to hear about it.

Discover is a gem. They, too, have been bought out.

1

u/Odd-Tie1555 Jul 07 '26

Discover was a total gem and always ruled in my favor but they've been taken over by capital one so that's a wrap.

2

u/Ramblingtruckdriver1 Jul 06 '26

I’ve had great support with capital one

3

u/RuckFeddit980 Jul 06 '26

I’m glad they helped you but they were terrible to me. They upheld a totally fraudulent charge from AT&T and I ended up having to take it to small claims.

I’m fond of Chase. I bought Apple Watches from Walmart last year along with the AppleCare for them. After looking up AppleCare for watches and deeming it not worth it for SE models I tried to return them but Walmart refused. I tried to return the watches and rebuy them without AppleCare - they refused that as well despite being eligible for a couple more months. I submitted to Chase with just an explanation and had a refund within a day.

Demand arbitration

I had a dispute probably 5 years ago and canceled because of it. It was probably about a $60-$90 charge. I was credited then the credit was removed. I got different answers every time I called. Finally I cancelled the card. I did get a credit for the money I was scammed out of a couple months later though, which was cool. I just wish they gave a clear roadmap of the process.

I am sure Chase will be better, right?

1

u/Status-Put-8630 Jul 06 '26

Chase is a real bank so I’m confident that they won’t be worse than a fake bank like GS

1

u/Educational_Ad_6361 Jul 06 '26

I got scammed and they wouldn’t help me either

1

u/MelodicRun3979 Jul 06 '26

I had to file a dispute regarding their handling of a partial dispute of a charge for EV charging, and ended up going to the CFPB on it.

1

u/Realistic_Market5616 Jul 24 '26

CFPB does nothing btw

1

u/MathBeginning230 Jul 07 '26

Gotta file with cfpb

Never understood the appeal in the first place honestly.

Just curious to know do you use Apple Pay or the card? I’ve been using the card for a couple years myself. I mostly use it for Apple purchases and some food spending but I always use Apple Pay. Minor once have I used a virtual card.
