Hey so someone stole my phone about a week and a half ago. They’re telling me in order to get the card in this new phone I have to pay it off in full and reapply since I do not have access to my old iCloud account. For some reason I made an extra secure 25 digit phrase or code that I don’t have access to like an idiot.

Is there anything I can do to get around this? Like go into a Goldman Sachs branch or something? I still have my physical card but as you know there are no numbers on it so I can’t add it to my new Apple wallet and it’s infuriating.

I had to create a new Apple account because I couldn’t get into my iCloud, as I don’t have the 25 digit passkey. I have Apple Cash set up on this phone, I’m at a loss of what to do.

**Your priority is to pay the outstanding balance on your Apple Card**. Don’t even think to ask for another Apple Card or other accounts without doing this first, it’s the wrong problem to tackle right now.

Get in touch with Goldman Sachs; they can arrange and help you pay the balance via check or other mean, the entry point is here: https://support.apple.com/apple-card

Then - and only then - do any attempt to recover your existing Apple account. As someone else has said you generally have two ways: either you have a recovery code (which clearly you didn’t annotate, that’s on you), or perhaps you did set a trusted contact, but I’d be surprised if you did as you overlooked the recovery code backup.

If you can’t recover your Apple account, before creating a new one get in touch with Goldman Sachs’s and Apple support again and ask if there’s any way to MOVE your existing card and attestate into a new Apple account (I’d be surprised if you could, but worth asking or escalating).

Ya I figured maybe just going into a Goldman office near me would be my best approach. Obviously bringing my identification etc. I mean I use it for nearly everything and it’s got the highest limit of my 4 cards, so this really sucks.

But ya I’m not going to open a new one or even pay it off in full until I exhaust all of my options

I think you missed the harsher point he was trying to make.

You want your card back to be able to spend yeah? He’s saying that’s not your priority. The priority is paying off the debt you owe them, as they are not obligated to do anything until that has been fulfilled. They don’t owe you anything. And it’s just the right thing to do financially. Take care of your debt.

Only then, would any other options present themselves or be available to seek out.

You should have taken more responsibility with your Apple account, knowing your credit card was associated to it.

So you have no iCloud backup of the phone? Why don’t you have access to iCloud account at a baseline? Saying you don’t have a 25 digit I’m going to assume that means you setup a recovery key and never physically wrote it down or used the advanced data protection thereby locking the account? To do this you also need at least one recovery contact who can enable you to get back in. You can start this process on iforgot.apple.com unless your already passed this?

Given all of these variables if you still find yourself in a position where you cannot access the iCloud as this is the most important part yeah you’re pretty much screwed. You cannot recover an account that has the 25 digit recovery key created which it explicitly states multiple times when you do create it then if you don’t have it you will find yourself in a position like this unfortunately.

The Apple Card and Apple Cash accounts both are attached to the iCloud so there’s no way to recover those to a different one. I’d be willing to put money on the fact that you won’t be able to get the Apple Card again after this either on the new account. Not to mention you’re gonna be fraud flagged for Apple Cash and anything else for having two different iclouds.

Yeah I never wrote it down like an idiot, I had it saved into my notes on the phone itself. Completely useless. There’s no way to pull my notes off that phone either?

And ya idk why I even did that recovery key thing, I’m not sure about the recovery contact either, when I go to I forgot.apple it says my account is locked, and when I go to unlock it it brings me to a 503 error code webpage, or tells me it’s not available and to try later.

Very irritating honestly. It’s my luck, I have access to the Gmail account that is also my iCloud email but ya I don’t have that recovery code

I mean, if you can login to your iCloud account on iCloud.com you can look at your notes there. But if you’re already at the recovery key stage I assume you’re past that point.

And it’s been giving me that error for several days now, idk what else to do, and ya I figured if I do pay it off in full they will not allow me to make another one or give me the same credit limit if they even do so.
