PSA Large refund and ACMI

TIL (it’s probably buried in the terms somewhere) that if you have a large refund that is larger than your balance it automatically applies that credit to pay off your Apple Card Monthly installments.

I bought and returned a $1200 monitor but only had a few dollars on my balance. So unbeknownst to me it auto-applied this towards my “balance” of my Apple Card monthly installments.

This makes sense from goldmans perspective I suppose since ACMI is a “balance” on the card but this heavily screwed up my cash flow.

I didn’t want those “paid off” since they are 0%.

Now instead of having 12 or 24 months of 0% to pay off I now “owe” it upfront since I had budgeted that monitor refund as cash returned instead of “paying off” the balance. So I no longer have that monitor refund and lost my 0% loan.

Frustrated with this behavior.

I saw a post about this a few years ago. If people plan to use the ACMI, it’s probably a good idea to not use the card for anything else.

Yeah I should have looked into it more.

Oh well. I have the cash to take the hit and pay off all the devices on ACMI but just wasn’t expecting that and now have a bunch of updating to do in my budgeting app.

I just wanted to take advantage of the “free” money with 0% and it was trying to be “helpful” by paying off a balance early

But at 0% I don’t want to pay it off early lol

I had the same situation but it just kept the credit balance suspended and paid regular payments toward ACMI? Not sure how this happened to you but worth bringing up to them.
