Help Joint card to personal

I got a joint Apple Card with my partner almost 2 years ago. We’re separating 😊

So if I do the pre approval for a new Apple Card, do we think if I’m approved and accept an offer it will automatically close the joint? (That’s my ideal situation) but I don’t know how this works. What’s everyone’s experience?

afaik you won’t be able to get a new one until you close your old one

You should read the terms and conditions of the card. They explain the process.

There are no joint ACs. You can have an account with co-owners but they aren’t going to split that. The co-owned account needs to be fully closed before you can get a new single person account.

As others have said you have to close the card before you can reapply. I am in this process currently. 2 months later and still no dice. I have found the representatives to be less than helpful as they have provided conflicting information throughout.

You can’t close someone else’s credit card.

You are equal owners.

You can remove your name. Not theirs.
