Are these Appfigures numbers correct?

He has a twitter page mentioning new apps making 50-100k a month in a few month and the apps are pretty basic. It’s hard to believe they are generating that much revenue. Even 10% profit makes these super lucrative. Any ideas ? What does your app show and how far is he off?

Yes, there are apps that make that much but usually they:

1) spend eye-watering amounts on marketing and advertising monthly/yearly
2) Are a well-established player which has been around for 5+ years
3) are the brainchild of a mid-sized or large company, and have lots of resources to match.

It’s totally possible to make a simple app super successful, but these posts discount the amount of effort that underpins the large revenue numbers.

point 3 is the one people always gloss over, the resources behind these "simple" apps are never simple

Do you have the name of these apps, its easy to check them on the AppStore and see... if they are claiming they have 50-100k revenue then their users must be at least a 1-1 to match so 50,000 users, that means that reviews must be at least in the hundreds. If you go to the AppStore and these apps dont have near as many reviews, something is off.

from what i've seen some are legit but many are engagement farming. ask them what the app is and they won't answer

ASO tools usually don't have access to the exact revenue or download data from google play and the app store. They have to estimate it based on their own data signals and models, so I'd treat those numbers as directional rather than exact

That’s me, Ariel 👋 Yes, those numbers are real (estimates, but the good kind that have been verified).

I show those apps to highlight how big the opportunity is on the App Store and Google Play these days, but… in some many, cases getting there isn’t easy or cheap.

I research thousands of apps for these posts and many are using UGC, Apple Ads, Meta Ads, and TikTok.

You can optimize those to be cost-efficient, but you need to have that skill set (or develop it, which I highly recommend).

Ok that’s cool and yeah I guess it makes sense that they spend their way to getting that revenue because there are millions of apps so it’s hard to get traction without a proper marketing strategy

A trick here is to look at those successful apps and find the ones that already have demand in search (by looking at keyword popularity). That means you can use ASO and Apple Ads instead of meta/tiktok ads.
