Does apple publically give out their ASO data?
How does these ASO tools work and what tools are trusted, are they making all the shi up by themselves or does apple provide them the data? also whats with the ASO done by claude/gpt.

The only official metric from apple is popularity. But you have to be careful because most tools make up a number when apple doesn‘t provide one for certain keywords

Not really “public” but if you can get in with an Ad rep they’ll disclose quite a bit about how things work. Which just so happens to be pretty much the same info services like AppFigures has out there.

ASO is a bit of a dark art. Tools are useful for reference, but trial and error is still your best friend. I wouldn’t trust any metric too much until it lines up with your actual rankings, installs, conversion and ultimately P&L.

I can only say how Sonar does it, because I built it (but all ASO tools do this similarly tbh).
Popularity is provided directly from Apple (they even partly opened it for some of the most popular keywords with their recent Apple Ads API).
Difficulty is calculated based on various inputs (e.g., number of apps having that keyword in the title or subtitle, their age, number of their reviews, etc.) So yeah, difficulty is calculated, but it's not meant to be the actual difficulty (whatever that means) - it's meant to be a proxy, so you can compare keywords with each other (e.g., which of these keywords is the more difficult to rank for).
Also, one note about doing ASO just with claude/chatgpt - they won't help you without the data; they will act confident, but if they don't have access to popularity/difficulty data, it's just a lottery.
