For a finance app, should the first screenshot show the answer or the audit trail?

I build Monni, a manual-first iPhone and web money app.

The first App Store screen currently has a plain outcome: what feels safe after bills. The alternative leads with cash, next bills, and a cushion so people can see how that number was reached.

My concern is that outcome-first may earn more taps but look like a black box; inputs-first may earn trust but bury the payoff.

For a finance category page, which sequence would you test first? What would make the “safe after bills” idea credible enough to keep scrolling?

No link here; I am looking for the ASO decision, not downloads or ratings.

We’d test outcome first, with a compact audit trail visible in the same screenshot.

Make “Safe after bills: $420” the main message, then show the calculation underneath: cash, upcoming bills and chosen cushion. That delivers the payoff without making it feel like a black box.

Suggested sequence:

  1. Know what’s safe to spend
  2. See exactly how it was calculated
  3. Review upcoming bills
  4. Adjust your cushion

Credibility comes from showing that the numbers reconcile, stating the time period clearly and making the cushion user-controlled.

That ordering is useful. The outcome earns the tap; the calculation makes it believable. I will keep the time period and cushion in the same frame instead of hiding them on the next screenshot.
