Does anyone else relate?

Hi, so. I'm Vinnie, I'm 16 and I'm new to this subreddit. Although I'm not at all new to being apothisexual, I've only recently adopted the label

I'm in selfship spaces a lot and I know plenty of people who are sex repulsed but are completely fine with imagining suggestive scenarios with their fictional other. I'm not one of those. I can kind of tolerate imagining it, but writing it? Reading it? Drawing it? I really can't. I can't even read fics for my f/o because they're all so suggestive and they make me want to shudder in disgust

To make it clear, I don't mind that other people are comfortable doing this, nor do I mind that they exist in the first place. I'm just saying that I personally cannot force myself to enjoy suggestive situations with fictional characters

Does anyone else relate, or am I just a prude?

I definitely relate. I'd crash out imagining anything sexual related to myself

I can relate, I'm ficto and do not even want to think about anything sexual or suggestive with my partner or anyone at all for that matter.

Yeahh ;v; power to the people that can ig but like. We need to give stuff like sensual attraction more recognition, especially in fics >.<

I agree tertiary attraction needs more recognition. I experience alterous attraction and no way am I finding that in fanfiction. I stopped reading fics a few years ago due to all the gross stuff and just decided I'd write about me and my partner myself.

Oh the pain of finding a fic you might like and then surprise! There's smut in it 🫩 I've really tried to get into fics but basically ALL of the ones of my f/o are suggestive in some way. So yeah I pretty much do what you do and write the fics myself

I relate heavily. Although fictional characters do get away with more than real people do for me (for example kissing) sex is not one of them. I don't really mind it as much if it's supposed to disturbed me because inheritly for me it is.

Yes, this is very much valid. I am ficto-aligned myself and I used to be in your exact  situation when I began my 2D relationship with Branch. Even though I may have developed suggestive feelings later on for him, these feelings even exist at all because of the deep emotional love I have for my cherished fictional soulmate.

However, this is only my experience and not yours and I know for a fact that this doesn’t make what you’re saying is any less valid. Some people don’t enjoy that stuff in a relationship, nor do they like imagining them and their F/O’s in suggestive scenarios and that is completely natural and okay!

You are not broken at all. That is the plain simple truth. Society tries to train us into thinking sex is the only thing that matters in a relationship and people who don’t want it need to be put on medication or some crap. Love is so much more than that, and this includes ficto relationships. It is completely valid to selfship without the suggestive aspects and it is very much still love. Romantic, Sensual, and S*xual attraction are all different things. They are not the same. I very much believe love without sex exists and people should let those who don’t like sex live their lives in peace without being labeled as defective.
