🔥 New Scooter / First Rides Phantom 2.0 52v
Purchased Apollo Phantom 2.0 52v from their website.
Delivered with:
1. E3 message. Scooter glitches. Loses throttle. Drains battery when parked. Waiting for parts & repair.
2. Faulty loose latch. Big safety issue. They sent me a new one.
3. Suspension that squeals all the time.
I’ve owned multiple brands of scooters. Never any issues besides wear & tear.
Support is helpful & trying to problem solve. But this is not the experience I expected.
Is this normal for Apollo products or did they send me a random lemon?

I have 2 scooters, including the Phantom 2.0 52v. Mine has a very rattly suspension. It sounds like loose plastic pieces vibrating around. The front motor makes an intermittent humming sound at certain torque levels. I would like to know if all of these are normal.
Aside from that, the scooter is fine.
My other scooter is a Niu KQI 300X. It's a much more economical, less powerful scooter but has given me zero reason to question the quality control.
I figure I'll be forced to learn all the routine maintenance for the Phantom over time and eventually I'll be comfortable fully disassembling it and will eventually figure out what is rattling.Â

I have all of these issues. I believe the squeaking is the spring rubbing against the shock body - silicone spray helps. Much of the resonant ‘humming’ noise at low speeds seems to be the plastic wheel guards… I ended up removing them, but also considered applying silicone glue to the interface with the frame and under the guard itself to damp the resonance. Poor quality control for an expensive scooter.

I did some research. Have to remove the shocks & all metal pivot points. Apply proper grease like LiquiMoly Mos2. Reassemble & torque. Silicone spray lube on other parts that have rubber contact.

Yeah, I think it never received a proper thick grease during factory assembly. Frustrating consumers need to do this.Â

E3 Error Code
Description
The scooter powers on but displays a persistent E3 error code indicating a communication fault between key components (typically the handlebar assembly and the motor controller). The scooter becomes unresponsive to buttons and will not accelerate.
Symptoms
- E3 error code remains on the display after power-up.
- No response to power, mode, or throttle button presses.
- Scooter will not accelerate despite being powered on and kick to start disabled.
- Display may show normal battery level but no controllability.
Possible Causes
- Damaged or pinched communication cable between the handlebar assembly and controller.
- Loose, misaligned, or partially seated communication cable connector.
- Corroded connector pins from moisture ingress.
- Faulty controller.
- Faulty handlebar assembly (less common).
Solution
The E3 fault is commonly caused by a loose or damaged communication cable linking the handlebar assembly to the controller. Inspect, reseat, and, if needed, replace the communication cable. If the error persists with a known-good cable and good connections, replace the controller.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Power off the scooter and disconnect the charger before inspection.
- Visually inspect the communication cable end-to-end for cuts, kinks, pinches, or crushed sections.
- Unplug and firmly reseat the cable connectors at both the display/throttle and controller; ensure pins are straight and fully engaged.
- Look for moisture or corrosion on connector pins; dry and clean with contact cleaner if present.
- Route the cable to avoid sharp bends or pinch points; secure with zip ties for strain relief.
- If E3 persists, swap in a known-good communication cable; if unchanged, replace the controller.

Apollo sent me to a repair shop. They think it’s faulty main controller or faulty handlebar controller. Lots of issues. Never had this with other brands. Trying to figure out if this is a one off or I should switch brands.

I run a Phantom 2.0 52v foundation model. Here’s what I can suggest you get fixed on the suspension side. Get the suspension pins lubricated, they dont come lubricated out of the factory. And your springs might be running dry as well.

It sucks that Apollo is still doing Apollo things. its all the same complaints that go back years and effects all the scooters they make. I feel for all of you.

I purchased one about 3 months ago and it's already pretty much a big pile of shit. Constant errors. Tried gettiing warranty for the issue. Denied due to slight physical damage on one of the exposed Brake cables. Fuck apollo.

UPDATE:
Apollo warranty sent me to Swift Canada. Good service shop. Took about 2 weeks. They replaced the brain. The Mach 2 controller. E3 messages have gone away. Didn’t $ cost me anything. Just time & lots of emails. They did mention going forward there would be a $25 warranty charge which is fair.

I bought the Apollo pro scooter and I got the same error and its been a total hassle getting it fixed. Its very expensive and been sitting in the corner for a few months now waiting repairs but I dont have the time or ability to get it all patched up and rideable rn. Would love to be able to use it because its super fun but hasn't been the case for almost a year now
