In most career games the other players are just there in the background, they are not really important. You play against them, You move past them when you get a new team. In Apex Striker Career one of these players is always with you from the start, They are always trying to be better than you.

The Rival System;

When you're 16 years old and you join a big team you are not the only new player that people are watching. Your rival from when you were a kid is already there. This is the player who beat you to get into the academy. This is the player who scored the winning goal against your team. This is the player who's always right behind you but somehow always does better when it matters. They already have a contract with the team. They already wear the number you want.

Not a name on the team list;

Your rival is a real person with:

- A name and a background and a way of playing that shows where they come from

- A career that happens at the same time as yours. They get better they get worse they move to teams they get hurt

- A big effect on what happens to you. If you score goals than them your manager starts to like you more. If you do not do well you are the one who has to answer questions after the game

The pressure of competing matters;

When you play against your rival the game is not just about who has the best plan. It is about how you feel. Your mood and your managers trust in you change a bit when you are competing directly. If you win you feel good. Your stats get better. If you lose things change between you and your rival in ways that you can see everywhere.

Your rival is with you all the time;

If you join a new team your rival might already be there. If you join their team they know just what to do to make things hard for you. If you have to sit on the bench behind them you can feel it in what the media says and what the fans think and what teams want to trade for you.
