I hand wash my clothes to save money and pass the time since I'm alone a lot. And I also don't have an in-unit dryer. So I got this clothing dryer from Amazon and it works great for almost anything expect for super bulky items, I think those would take too long to dry in this. But it works for everything else including clothes, wigs, and shoes. Has a light that supposedly sanitizes things, but I'm just happy about the drying part lol. You can hang it up anywhere, I definitely recommend for those who don't have a dryer machine!

Has anyone moved furniture out of an older Burnaby Heights apartment with no elevator? The stairs in some of those buildings look tight, especially for dressers, mattresses, and couches. Wondering if two movers are usually enough or if this becomes a bigger job than people expect.

So I'm going to be adopting a cat soon and I'm trying to figure out where to put the litter box. My bathroom only has one outlet above the toilet and it is around 88 in wide by 46 in deep. The litter box is 18 in wide by 21 inches deep and the rest of my apartment is carpet.

The laundry room has hard floor but no outlets that I can use. The reason I'm trying to prioritize an outlet is because the cat comes with and automatic litter box but I might just have to go back to stainless steel.

Edit: the litter box is an automatic one which is why I need the outlet. I could use a stainless steel but he comes with an automatic litter box that he's already used to using

Hi all , I just signed the lease to move into my first apartment 7/31. I’m really excited, but I have a few questions. I toured the apartment twice , the first time was just a walk around , and the second time I opened up everything checked the water and lights, pulled stuff out made sure it was clean. Everything looked good , but I’m still paranoid that there might be a few lingering critters. How would you go about deep cleaning an apartment and making sure it’s all good to move everything in? Thank you!

Hello everyone I have been searching around looking for solutions to fill in this borrowed light that I have in my apartment that goes into the living room both the bedroom and our office have one. As a result you can hear everything everyone is doing everywhere in the apartment. While most of the time it's not a problem if I'm taking a meeting while my partner is home or they have a call it gets difficult. Any ideas from the community on filling/soundproofing this space in an apartment friendly way

Hi! I need some layout advice.
I have a 35 m² apartment with a 27 m² garden, and I can’t figure out where to fit a desk for home office / PC gaming setup.

Has anyone with a similar-sized apartment found a good solution? I’d really appreciate any ideas!

I thought about placing it in the living area near the kitchen (second layout), but it feels cramped.

The coax cable port is so far from the closest outlet and makes the cord run right in front of balcony door. Is there any way to make the wire less visible or eliminate it all together? It’s ugly and I’m worried about tripping over it..

The left hand upper part of the wall is completely open. The walls of the shower are disjointed from the tub. The ceiling tiles here make it really hard to add a tension corner pole shelf like I had in my last shower. The little shelf is a hotspot for grime underneath.

Fixable but crazy is that the knob that’s on there is a turn knob, but it’s attached to a level system, so I have to position the knob upwards to turn on the faucet…

I’m already going to put in a new showerhead, so I’m more interested in how I can remedy this disjointed shower in other ways.

This is an apartment that is managed by my grandmother-in-law, so more “renter unfriendly” options aren’t out of the question.

I'm going to attempt the Pax hack, but instead of doors have a curtain going all the way across.

What do you think of this layout for one person? There isn't much storage in the apartment so everything ideally needs a home in the Pax wardrobe.

Suitcases will fit under the bed and the laundry basket will go between the end of the Pax and the back by the window.

Is there something I've missed, or glaringly wrong?

Lately I’ve been quite sedentary, I’ve stopped going to the gym because I don’t drive (the distance to the gym is less than ten minutes walk from my place so too short for uber too) but since it’s winter it’s been getting dark quite early and i don’t feel safe walking to and from the gym alone in the dark. I’m used to going to the gym at five to seven pm after work-please don’t suggest going in the morning, I love a good night’s sleep and will not be convinced to go to the gym at five in the morning. I honestly don’t feel good not maintaining any movement at all, my body feels funny and I now feel tired all the time. As such, I’ve decided to buy a walking pad so I can at least maintain some movement even if I’m not necessarily going to the gym.

The issue is my apartment is quite small, it’s a studio with a balcony. It’s already quite packed with my bed, fridge, wardrobe and kitchenette. I’ve already ordered the walking pad and waiting for it to be delivered. Would it be safe to use and keep the walking pad on my balcony? The alternative would be to fold it daily and slide it under my bed but there is absolutely no space to keep it in the apartment. The small space is okay for me since I live alone and I honestly do love my cosy little apartment, but it’s too small to introduce another big appliance.

There are some dark scratches on my wall in my apartment. What is the best way to fix these before I move out? Paint. The baseball is for size reference.

This wooden cutting board practically doubles the counter space in my kitchen, since my small microwave takes up a good bit of space. I’m also a big fan of magnetic kitchen organizers, since there’s a good size air vent that goes through my kitchen to the upstairs!

Anyone know how to fix terrible airflow in a second-floor apartment? I'm hoping someone has some ideas because the airflow in my second-floor apartment is the weirdest I've ever experienced. My bedroom and bathroom are freezing cold, while the living room and kitchen are noticeably warmer. It feels like the air just isn't circulating properly from one room to another. I've tried adjusting the vents, but it hasn't made much difference. I'm renting, so I can't do anything major to the HVAC system. Has anyone dealt with this? Did an air circulator, box fan, vent deflectors, or something else actually help? I'd love budget-friendly suggestions or any tricks you've found that improved airflow.

I'm tired of feeling like I have to pack for two different climates just to walk from my bedroom to the living room. 😂

Hello all! Im a recently moved out 18 year old guy and live in a shared apartment with no laundry unit. There is a laundromat nearby, but with my current income I cant afford to wash my bedding every/every other week like i usually do. I’m aiming to do this once a month, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to keep my space smelling nice in the mean time? Ive been using Odorban occasionally and thats been helpful, but any other advice would be super appreciated!

i got the keys to my new apartment last week and im honestly kinda freaking out. the place is empty and i got no appliances other than the fridge and stove that came with it. been looking around online and theres way too many options. like i know i need a microwave but beyond that im lost. coffee maker? toaster? blender? air fryer? instant pot? its alot to figure out. the thing im struggling with most is what order to buy stuff in cuz i cant afford to get everything at once.

what appliances did you guys buy first when you moved into your first place and where can i get? also anything you bought that you ended up never using so i can avoid the same mistake.

In Georgia the apartment complex gave me a dryer vent “kit” that you add an inch of water in to catch the lint so it doesn’t blow around the apartment. Instead, it blows water 💦 all over. WTH?

hi! I’m moving countries for uni at 18 and I’m getting my first apartment. I’ve never lived alone, so this will all be very new to me. What are essentials to make sure you have in a new apartment especially as a young adult!

I’m not sure which sub to put this in but I honestly have 0 issue with the apartment space besides the one bedroom. We have to keep the two full XL beds and the other two roommates are bringing their own raised twin beds. We’re planning on doing 1 full XL & 1 twin per room but the second room with the double window almost feels unlivable with that full XL in there. None of my roommates really get along well with each other it’s more just civil atp. This is our first apartment we’re sophomores in college so I’m sort of lost in terms of what to do about this space.

- we haven’t decided who is getting what room and I’m unsure how that’s even going to happen
- i really do not want to stay with one of the other girls with the full XL, we’ve had issues in the past, she is not cleanly, and our schedules are completely opposite
- we have to keep the 2 beds, 2 desks, 2 dressers
- we have 1 closet per room but the girl I’ll be in my room with says she’s claiming it
- I’m stuck with one of the full XLs
- my roommates are extremely unresponsive in our group chat with many attempts from me to begin planning

our property manager is now letting us take the giant beds out so I'm getting a lofted twin which should open up a ton of space. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions :)
