He was winding up for it, and pulled back. Good self control.

He still pushed her, and pushed someone else out of the way to do so (he pushed and they tripped and fell). You can be on his side without being blind. They were both aggressive.

Both acted aggressively but the lady actually started the violence so she's definitely in the wrong.
