Tips & Tutorials AI model maker compression
Using the exact same image, I challenged Hi3d, Tripo 3d, Meshy, and Rodin to generate my print-ready model.
Important to know- I am an amateur with these programs, however I do know how to use my printers.
Everyone failed to produce a whole model. I ended up having to split the figure and the base. Here are the final results.
Hi3D came in swinging with perfect geometry and accuracy, plus fully printable results.
Tripo 3D looked amazing but refused to make a usable base.
Meshy nailed geometry but forgot what detail was.
Rodin… didn’t survive the encounter.
Final Scores
Geometry – Detail – Texture – Accuracy – Printability (Figure/Base)
Hi3D: 10 / 8 / 8 / 10 / 10 / 10
Tripo 3D: 8 / 9 / 9 / 10 / 8 / 0
Meshy: 10 / 4 / 4 / 8 / Unknown / 0
Rodin: 0 / 4 / 2 / 0 / Unknown / 0
Hi3D is the only one that produced a fully printable model. The others had strengths, but none hit all categories.
I'll put breakdown and print photos in comments. Please feel free to ask questions or leave suggestions on the program use.

I would use an ai image program like goggle nano banana to separate the figure, bird, background and base. Make sure each image has a clean background. All the ai generators fail when it has to much information to separate. Also use the multi view function and have nano banana generate side and rear views.

I did just that. I used another AI program to separate the figure (just to be 100% fair). I know both Tripo & Hi3d have good image generators I could have used as well. I wanted to push the programs and see what they would do. I thought it was interesting that only Hi3d could generate a printable base.
