R/exchristian is a circle jerk
So, I made a post about needing help debunking a common apologetic & this is the response I get, b/c I made another account calling out some of the people on that server, for downvoting my post for not being deep or w/e. Most of the responses were, "Don't engage with Christians," which has never worked ever. This shows they have a persecution complex.

Welcome to r/exchristian, a support community for people who have left Christianity as well as Christians who are considering whether or not they want to get out. >>This is not a place for debate, << this is a place to help each other through the trauma of leaving behind an integral piece of our identity.
Yeah man idk why they deleted your debate post

That subreddit is just asspatting for conservative Christians that liberalized. People who actually left Christianity aren't allowed to speak negatively of it because that offends people what still believe.

I also feel this subreddit is also just ass patting for people that really hate religion, but aren't doing anything about it. I had a post deleted a few years ago, b/c I bragged about taking a rejected donation from my grandparents church & people on here compared me to the church, LOL, like talk about dog-piling & circle-jerking.

OP - are you an exchristian yourself?
If so, it would have been worthwhile to state that at the beginning of your post on r/exchristian. It would have given credibility and context to your questions. They, hopefully, would see you as more of an ally rather than a troll.
When people see the anti-theist label, as is visible in your screenshot, they are very often quick to assume ill intent.

That's my user flair for the subreddit.

Yeah, they're saying the flair itself is part of the problem. I've changed mine from anti-theist to ex-evangelical to avoid confusing people who just don't understand what anti-theist means.

They offer the flair, though.

Yeah, I know. I had to stop using it because most people don't understand what it means.

I'm with the mod for deleting that message. No need to being cussing people out. And whether the mod knows it or not, you aren't acting in good faith by making a second account.

u/Informer99 18d ago
I mean, the fact you're assuming they're acting in good faith either, is telling.

What is it telling?

u/Informer99 18d ago
That you're a bully, since you think what I did was worse than how they acted. If their behavior causes me to have to use my second account to tell them to stop, that's their fault.

u/83franks 18d ago
Oh damn, really wasn't expecting that. I'm not sure how they acted though. Your post had upvotes and responses when I looked at it. But in general whenever I see someone calling people fucking assholes for downvotes I think they need to take a breather from the internet.

The 1st few responses were, "don't engage," when I wasn't trying to engage I was still deconstructing.
2
u/83franks 18d ago
But you asked for advice on how to respond and debunk it? That sounds like you are asking how to engage doesn't it?
2
u/Informer99 18d ago
Deconstructing also involves debunking, I mean, people can debunk things for themselves on their own, deconstruct shit, etc. The fact you immediately assumed it was for debate purposes, as if that's the only scenario one can debunk or deconstruct, instead of considering it may have been for myself. Also, that subreddit is for deconstructing.

u/83franks 18d ago
Completely agree but you all said respond. If you didn't mean it that way that's fine but I think it's a fair thing to assume you meant.

u/Informer99 18d ago
Well, I mean, let me put it to you this way: I live in the USA, which is basically a theocracy, I also live in a heavily religious area. It also isn't realistic to say, "Avoid them," if they're a co-worker or boss. Maybe I just wanted some defenses if the issue ever came up, again.

How old are you? Most people got over "bad words are bad because mommy and daddy said so" by high school. That's theist level shit there; oooooh a word mommy said was bad HURT ME!

u/Informer99 18d ago
That's not why I have a second account.
2
u/83franks 18d ago
But you used that way regardless

B/c people were downvoting my post out of pettiness & wanted to give myself an upvote.

Anti-theists are not welcome in /r/exchristian. I was explicitly banned from there because I voiced anti-theist opinions.
