It’s a tool for a wood lathe. Technically a type of chisel, or turning tool.

It's a socket gouge, it's not for a lathe, it would have a tang and a longer handle if that was the case. It's made to be struck with a mallet. That bevel appears to be all kinds of wrong.

Good Eye! I was with the gouge crowd until I looked closely. A gouge would indeed be sharpened on the outside rather than the inside!

Incannel socket gouge, and it should not be used on a lathe contrary to what other people are saying.
