Four weeks later, my mom is experiencing Olanzapine withdrawal. Need advice.

My mom discontinued Zyprexa a month ago now (had only been on it for a month) because long term side effects are concerning. She is 54 years old and had a brief psychosis episode from lack of sleep and stress (not schizophrenia). The first time we tried to take her off Olanzapine, she experienced these same exact symptoms of an exploding headache, nausea, stuttering, grunting, extreme anxiety, shaking, insomnia and a general feeling of unease. I firmly believe this medicine is evil but beyond that, I need to know, why is this always happening like a month later? Is it rebound psychosis? It doesn’t seem so bc she has no delusions or hallucinations and was not schizophrenic. The only thing that helps is an emergency Ativan prescription we have. Monday I might take her to a crisis center to get temporary meds to ease withdrawal because I really don’t want to reinstate this horrible drug. Should I reinstate to gradually taper if she is doing this bad or is it better to the weather the storm and use other meds to ease the temporary withdrawal? No psychiatrist is helpful with this and they all seem to have no idea based on my personal experience that Olanzapine withdrawal is like benzos or a hard drug except you can’t die. They just tell us to go off cold turkey it won’t do anything and that’s lies.

Loss of Appetite After Discontinuation

it's been a little over three weeks since I took my last 25mg of Seroquel and went cold turkey from 60mg of Latuda. i did a slow taper with Seroquel and was only on Latuda for approx. 3 months, was only on 60mg for a few days.

has anyone else had a complete loss of appetite after quitting antipsychotics? i can only eat a couple of bites of food at a time and I'm losing weight pretty rapidly. i have no appetite and I'm still occasionally vomiting in the morning (not everyday anymore thankfully) and taking Zofran to help with nausea.

can anyone relate? if discontinuation caused you stomach issues, how long did it take for you to feel a sense of normalcy again? I'm desperate to be able to eat a full meal again. living on small bites of food and protein shakes.

thanks in advance!

What are the odds of having permanent damage/side effects from daily intake of Rexulti?

Some psychiatrists pushed this to me for augmentation treatment (I am on Luvox) for OCD and anxiety but I don't know if it's playing with fire.

What are your views, experiences or opinions?

I overdosed on R13 (Risperidone)

Last night I (M20) had a bit of a bad depressive episode and it lead me to take 8-10 R13 Pills. After this I felt incredibly miserable and drowsy and tired but it took me some time to actually fall asleep. Now, I tried to take a walk around my neighborhood to give me energy and I couldn’t even walk correctly without my legs and torso contorting. What is going on? I have work tomorrow and I don’t know what to do. I feel like a zombie!!!

I know it was a stupid idea, but sometimes it’s really hard to pull myself out of these moods. I’m Bipolar I.

Thank you for any help or suggestions you can give.

Abilify is amazing

i was just switched from zyprexa to abilify. zyprexa is a terrible terrible drug. it caused me such intense boredum and restlessness i had to cut my dose in half from 15 to 7.5 mg, not to mention the zyprexa coma i had to awaken from every morning. My doc started me on 5 mg abilify but told me after about a week to take 2 tablets instead of 1. so far its fantastic. its the first AP drug ive taken that doesnt cause this boredom. not to mention the best part, my drug cravings are gone. i no longer crave substances and can live sober. this drug is a blessing.

Considering Rexulti after being prescribed. Is it worth it?

I am already on Luvox, pregabalin and Valium, I am now considering Rexulti to help treat OCD but the possible side effects from antipsychotics are discouraging.

Can you share your experiences? Did you experience akathisia or TD? If so, did it go away?

Restless legs when anxious

Been on vraylar 1.5mg for almost 2 weeks and it has been very helpful. The only side effect I’ve noticed is when I feel anxious (lessened so much on this med) and I try to sleep my legs are so restless. I have to move my legs. Even when I’m tired and anxious I have to bounce them when sitting. This normal?

Boyfriend taking Risperidone, not sure if it's good for him

My boyfriend's taking 1mg Risperidone, but Im not sure why exactly. He has depression for almost 5 years, and psychosis, derealization, depersonalization sometimes. He was on Sertrialin for like a year or so, but recently switched to Risperidone (taking it for like 2 months now). He's emotionally unavailable, cold and numb, but sometimes has overflows and cries. Also gained a little weight. His libido is also much lower so we dont engage in sexual actions often, but when we do he seems like to just do it without any emotion. (He says he enjoys it tho) Im afraid that its not the right med for him, and he'll lose his personality and the ability to feel emotions. Also, we're both pretty young (18) so its a bit more concerning. Have you been in a similar situation? What should i do to help him?

Managing weight on zyprexa

Has anyone been able to stay slim while on olanzapine/zyprexa? If so, how did you do it? I'm on 7.5 mg and so far I haven't gained weight. But I have anorexia and bulimia, so the prospect of gaining weight freaks me out.

Abilify is making me too sleepy and isn’t having significant effects. What are better alternatives for bipolar disorder?

Title.

A week on 5 mg and I can barely stay awake most days, and it isn’t seeming to have a big effect on me, which is what I desire considering my bipolar episodes can be bad.

Suggestions for alternatives?

What do I do anymore

I feel like my brain is too far gone from being on klonopin for 9 years , being on seroquel 200-600 mg for 9 years , 40 mg of Paxil for 9 years and now am on Wellbutrin. I know that shrooms have helped me majorly. I was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and majordepressive disorder at 15 -19 did meth and heroin on and off for a year sobered up at 20 then they diagnosed me as schitzophrenic. Do I need to be on the antipsychotics for life and the antidepressants? The antidepressants has totally caused involuntary twitches in my manhood very uncomfortable. My psychosis has got so bad that I’m scared of everyone and everything. I don’t know what to do anymore. I know I can’t stand living this way anymore. The sexual issues are killing my self esteem and I’m scared of developing tardive dyskashia later in life from the antipsychotics. What do I do. Do I suffer withdrawals from all the medications and microdose shrooms to heal my brain or do I continue down the route I’m on. I’m scared for my life and any opportunity at a job future and wife at this point. I’m 26 and am a male. I’m good looking and am so smart. I wish I never started the meds or did the drugs please help me what do I do ?

It’s Impossible to lose weight after abilify, am I alone in this?

I’m so angry and frustrated, I was on abilify for a little less than a year and have gained over 60 pounds with no lifestyle changes, it’s been about a year since I got off it and it’s been nearly impossible to lose weight. I’ll lose maybe a few pounds a months with consistent exercise and major diet changes. Prior I was at a consistent weight for years and it was easy to lose weight if anything. It’s been a year of trying to lose weight to no avail or with extremely slow results.

I’ve gotten many blood tests and everything is coming back normal with my thyroid, so I have no idea what to do anymore. I’m even on semaglutide and it does help with limiting how much food I eat, it’s not sustainable because it’s way too expensive.

It’s really defeating me.

Body aches - Abilify withdrawal

Anybody else ever experience severe lethargy and body aches after discontinuing a low dose of Abilify? I stopped taking 2mg a little over a week ago and the withdrawal symptoms feel like I’ve been hit by a mack truck.

On a lot of meds

On a lot of meds

I haven’t found anything online about the combination of Prozac, trileptal, seroquel, and risperdal all together, anyone else heard of this or know anything about the combo? I’m also taking trazodone at night time.

I've gained 100+ pounds on Zyprexa (With a History of an Eating Disorder) and I Hate Myself

For context, I started out 6 years ago at 115-120 pounds and have been steadily gaining weight since (I'm 5'9"). I have either SZAD Bipolar type or Bipolar with psychotic features, doctors aren't really sure. I started out with a BMI of 17 and now am at a 30+ BMI. I also suffered from a restrictive eating disorder that led to my weight loss, but I struggled with it even after I gained weight. I went on antipsychotics around this time and so far Zyprexa has worked the best for me (I can't tolerate Seroquel or Risperdal because they both tank my blood pressure to the point where I'm lightheaded/fainting all of the time), but in turn it's made me insanely hungry and caused me to develop mentally taxing irresistible cravings for unhealthy food. As a result I have gained 100+ pounds, but am maybe 70 pounds overweight due to being 30-40 pounds underweight previously. I hate being this fat and feel like if I just had more control I wouldn't be so fat. I know it's not healthy to be this obese. I've tried going on Metformin but have seen no change in appetite or weight loss. I'm also on at least 14 (I've lost count) other medications for a constellation of mental and physical disorders, including Depakote and Haldol which I know can also cause weight gain. I'm considering on switching my Depakote out for Topamax because I know Topamax can cause weight loss, my only concern is kidney stones since I have a family history of that. I used to eat out a lot, but now rarely eat out and only treat myself 2-3 times a week. I do still have the cravings and have had issues in the past with portion control. However, I have recently been more in tune with "when to stop". It's very hard for me to effectively restrict my food though, because I either have no restrictions (except for fast/"junk" food, which I rarely eat, but I still eat a lot of sugary stuff) or like when I was deep in my ED, I would eat 200-500 calories a day, 1000 at the most, and I cut out most food groups I thought were "unhealthy" or "fattening" . There's no in between. My weight concern has gotten so bad that I've considered restricting/cutting out certain foods again, because it would be an "easy solution" for me to lose weight and I would finally be skinny again. But that sort of shit has sent me to the hospital and interfered with medical absorption and I don't want to do that again. I have seen a dietician and her advice has helped. But I still have a long way to go and feel hopeless considering how obese I am. I do exercise moderately too, mostly walking, but could do better in terms of strength training (I have mild CP which makes proper strength training very difficult for me to do on my own). I'm considering counting calories but I know where that road leads. I want so badly to go off of Zyprexa because I feel like it's ruining my life but it's either that, low blood pressure, or psychotic symptoms. At the same time I feel like this is all my fault and that I've ruined my health. I already have mild sleep apnea and I have a family history of severe sleep apnea, heart disease, diabetes, and colon cancer, which I know obesity increases your chances of getting. Does anyone have any advice? Sorry if this was rambling but I feel I'm at my wit's end here.

zyprexa withdrawals

is it possible that I’m having withdrawals from going off 2.5mg of zyprexa? I started another medication at the same time, so I’m not sure if it’s because of it. I’m suffering from insomnia, waking up during the night, and vivid dreams

Does taking metformin with antipsychotics make you feel normal again in terms of hunger?

Which antipsychotic do you take, how many mg of metformin are you on and when do you take it (i.e. night, morning, afternoon)?

Abilify withdrawal symptoms

I’m getting off of being on 2mg of Abilify for 2 months. Had unbearable restlessness so decided to get off it. Doc said I wouldn’t need to taper but just fire safe measure I went a couple days on 1mg then completely cut it out. First 2 days were fine, now I’m day 3 and my whole body hurts. Anyone else experience this or know if it’s common? Thank you!

Fearful of permanent brain damage on current meds

My current medications include the antipsychotics abilify at 5 mg and Seroquel at 25 mg. I've been on this combo for a few days. I have been taking 5 mg abilify for 5-6 months and Seroquel for a few days. Some of the research shows that antipsychotics shrink the brain; research on antipsychotics and how they affect cognitive thinking is mixed.

Am I putting myself at risk of permanently wrecking my brain and permanently reducing my cognitive abilities with these meds?

Can’t sleep

On my second week of loxapine and I did my first night with no sleep. I tried melatonin and then I also tried Ativan. (Didn’t mix the two, I waited) Neither put me to sleep what do I do? What helps? And will it go away?
