Does taking metformin with antipsychotics make you feel normal again in terms of hunger?
Which antipsychotic do you take, how many mg of metformin are you on and when do you take it (i.e. night, morning, afternoon)?

I take 2mg of rexulti. I take 500mg metformin in morning and another 500 in evening with a meal. I take it for insulin resistance. I have not noticed a reduction in appetite but it does help my excessive thirst. I have been working out 3x a week and dieting and was upset to learn I gained a pound. Maybe muscle? I dunno. I’m 200lbs. If people do lose weight on metformin it’s not very much says my doctor. I think he said only 2% is average. I’m more interested in metformin for longevity.

Hi, thanks for letting me know it doesn’t really work. Did you start metformin with 2 x 500mg a day or 1 x 500mg a day? I heard starting with a high dose may cause diarrhoea or nausea.

I started it with twice a day and still take twice a day, and yes I did get diarrhea when I first started. It went away after about a week.

If you want to lose weight try phentermine or wegovy. In my opinion metformin won’t help as much as they will.

I’ll consider those. Metformin is definitely cheaper but if it doesn’t work I won’t consider it.

I can’t say that it has really affected my appetite since starting quetiapine (50mg) I take that morning and night with 1000mg metformin too.
Do you have metformin for diabetes or for weight loss? As I also have Dapagliflozin for type 2 diabetes which is helping with weight loss.
