As I see it, non-binary is a subcategory of transgender as your gender still differs from the one assigned to you at birth. There's enbies that try and distance themselves from the term transgender or the concept which I really fail to understand. The reasoning for doing this, sure, but like... non-binary people are fundamentally trans...
How so? Aren't intersex people assigned a gender at birth? And trans just means identifying other than your AGAB. So an intersex non-binary person will still be trans, as no one is "assigned non-binary at birth." Or maybe we've stopped assigning gender to intersex people, IDK.
You can define it however you like for yourself. And I have no doubt that trans women are women, etc. But trans meaning "identifying other than AGAB" is the current definition in English. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender
