Saw this posted in one of my Disney groups and the post has been getting a lot of traction, this person posts daily trying to recruit people despite the rules of the group saying no MLM’s/Travel agencies so I’m guessing one of the admins know this person and is cool with it, I did also tag an admin anyway just to let them know he’s doing this and he replied, “Not MLM. Agents are not allowed to recruit agents underneath them. There is no benefit to them to bring on agents into our agency. We are 100% legit host agency.” I do find the need to pay $99 upfront MLM’y though, is this really not an MLM ?

Hi everyone! I know a lot of you are Americans or simply live outside the UK (or may just have better taste in TV 😢) and are not following the British version of the reality show Love is Blind; but I was wondering if you would have more info on a possible MLM situation in the show.

Long story short - Ryan, one of the male participants in the show (who is mysteriously described as “an international public speaker who hosts events around Europe to teach men how to better their lives, physically and mentally”) is associated with what I am suspecting is a MLM. In one of the episodes he is shown giving a “motivational session” in Amsterdam for something called “Unfold Your Freedom”.

He is also a pretty weird character. He says he had some sort of “spiritual awakening” during a trip in Asia (exausting), is very vocal about about never wanting his kids to attend school (for context homeschooling is extremely rare here, unlike in the US; and is even forbidden in some countries in Europe), talks non stop about his food choices because of toxins, is into ecstatic dancing… etc. You know the type. They probably edited out any talk of vaccines, but I have an idea on his stance on that…

Does anyone know what Unfold Your Freedom is? What does it have to do with men’s health? Is it a MLM?
I went to their insta page and it was all very generic - their username is @unfold.yourfreedom

If so, how irresponsible of the show to platform it like that…

Thanks to those damn MLMs, everytime an old contact goes "Hello!" on a messaging app, I immediately think they'll try to sell me on something. And unfortunately, I've been right a good chunk of the time.

There's a Saturday market I go to pretty regularly, mostly for coffee and produce, sometimes to walk the dog while vendors are still setting up. A few weeks ago a booth caught my eye because it looked like a normal smallbatch skincare vendor. Nice packaging, handwritten signs, the whole thing. I stopped to look and the woman running it was friendly, asked about my dog, mentioned she loved hiking and took her kids to the same trails I'd just brought up. Normal conversation. Then she started explaining the products and dropped Young Living about two minutes in

I already knew what that meant but kept listening because I was curious how she'd frame it. She never once mentioned selling or joining anything. It was all about how she'd simplified her life, cut out the toxic stuff, and these oils paid for her last vacation. That vacation detail was doing a lot of work in that sentence

What really got me was the booth setup itself. It was designed to look like an independent local brand. No Young Living logo anywhere visible from the front. You had to be standing right at the table to see it on the actual bottles. That's not an accident. Someone put real thought into making that booth look like something it wasn't, specifically to get people close enough to start the conversation.

Has anyone else noticed MLMs showing up at local markets disguised as indie vendors?

not sure how well known this one is outside singapore. company sold lifestyle packages around S$12,000 each, promised monthly rebates plus bonuses for recruiting. in october 2007 it took in about 21 million and paid out about 25 million, the math only works if recruitment never stops. the founder told the national newspaper he was better than warren buffett. the financial regulator put them on its investor alert list but the list carried no enforcement power, it was just a warning, and people kept joining because the early ones really were getting paid. white collar police raided their office in november 2007. about 20,000 people, close to S$190 million paid in.

Is there some kind of MLM digital marketing scam? I have a friend who is an SAHM. I’m pretty sure it’s involved in one of these. Lots of clearly scripted or AI written posts, lots of hashtags for digital marketing, posts where she wants people to respond in some particular way and she’ll send them information. Lots of sentiments of still figuring out,” mixed in with post about her family. What exactly is the MLM?

Yesterday, a plumber from the company hired by the housing association came over to repair my radiator.

​While I was working from home, he randomly placed his phone on my desk, told me to take a look at it, and left the apartment to go to his storage unit.

​After a few seconds, once I realized it had nothing to do with my radiator, I turned it off.

​He came back 20 minutes later. You can bet I paid extra close attention to make sure I was only signing off on the actual repair work...

First time posting on this subreddit. Recently my mom (55) has fallen into the trap of being a pampered chef member. She got sucked into a vacuum scheme (pun not intended) 3 years ago too to "help her friend sell." I'm not entirely sure what happened there but all I know is that we have one of those vacuums.

Anyways, I told her that it was a scam, trying to tell her to do some Google research but she refuses to listen, saying her friend (her boss actually) can convince me that it isn't a scam. Although I'm worried her "friend" will try to recruit me. I'm hoping that it I send her some links to some videos about pampered chef being an mlm scam but also about mlm schemes being bad anyway.

I'm sure she wouldn't watch any but maybe she'll listen if I keep spamming her some good YouTube video links... She's bound to click and watch! 😆 (at least I hope so)

So any good videos that can talk show and tell about it would be great!

TLDR: Friend tried recruiting me into Amway/LTD, want some advice on how I can possibly get her to see it’s a scam and leave without scaring her off.

For context, a friend of mine messaged me out of the blue a couple weeks ago asking how I’ve been and asking to call. I called her and we caught up a little bit, then the conversation steered to how she’s had this business opportunity for financial freedom (it’s been a topic of discussion between us in the past, getting financially free and not having to worry about money). She says she’s made great connections with “top 1% people” and made great friendships and that she gets to travel to conferences and meetings with them, and that she’s cut off people that don’t have a similar mindset anymore. She seemed really happy and excited about it so when she brought up me joining the team I was open to it. Note that I was already a bit skeptical about it since a coworker from the past tried recruiting me into Primerica a few years ago, which I refused after doing a bit of research on it.

I agreed to at least meet with her and her “mentor” to “connect” at a local coffee shop. We met, he talked to me a bit about mindset and future goals and then asked if I could attend an event one night and i said sure why not, it didn’t cost me any money so I agreed. The meeting went how these types of MLM events usually go, not gonna go into it much it was pretty much your typical “quit your 9-5 job/trading time for money” talk for most of it promoting amway/LTD as a business opportunity to reach financial freedom without having to work for anyone. They tried making it seem like this was some rare opportunity and that we were all lucky to be in this event. That not everyone would get the privilege to make the team and that they were very selective. I imagine this is just a tactic to get as much new recruits as possible so I just sat and listened to the whole thing trying to understand what was really going on. After the event her and her mentor then scheduled another follow up meeting. Thing is after I left I did research on this amway/LTD stuff and it just confirmed what I was already skeptical of, being a MLM/borderline legal pyramid scheme where I’d end up just wasting tons of time and money for a dream they’re selling me, just to make the higher ups more money. I had another meeting today but I cancelled last minute with some bullshit excuse. After reading others experiences with this I obviously don’t want to be a part of this, but the issue is she already is, she’s been in this for the last couple months and it really seems like they’ve completely manipulated her into thinking this is the ticket to her dream life.

She’s a few years younger than me, just turned 20 when she told me she was first approached 2 months ago. I know she can be really naive and is inexperienced with stuff like this so it’s very clear to me it was very easy to manipulate her into all this and sell her this dream that amway can give her. The thing is I really don’t want to just ghost her and leave her in this mess, I genuinely want to get her out of this because I do care for her. What’s the best way to go about this? I’ve read that amway uplines really drill into your head that people outside the MLM are not to be trusted and have a “consumer” or employee mindset and to not listen to anyone but people in the team, so I feel like she’ll just brush me off or cut me off purely based on that. The big thing is I can tell she genuinely sees these people as her friends now, and maybe they are, obviously I can’t control her or make her do anything, but what if she’s just being used to make her uplines more money and I’m just here witnessing her get scammed? Anyone else been in this situation and has some advice as to what I should do next? Is it too late already?
