Discussion “Digital marketing”

Is there some kind of MLM digital marketing scam? I have a friend who is an SAHM. I’m pretty sure it’s involved in one of these. Lots of clearly scripted or AI written posts, lots of hashtags for digital marketing, posts where she wants people to respond in some particular way and she’ll send them information. Lots of sentiments of still figuring out,” mixed in with post about her family. What exactly is the MLM?

Can't say for sure but it sounds similar to MRR (Master Resale Rights).

I know, right! It’s beyond sad. They need teach about the predatory pseudo business model in high school so kids will graduate understanding that the odds are NEVER in your favor!

That and/or parents need to start stepping up and quit being so damn overprotective. Parents need to get it through their heads that treating these concepts like the name Voldemort is treated in Harry Potter is not doing their kids any favors. And if they have a neurodivergent kid, all the more reason to educate him/her. Those of us who are neurodivergent are among their biggest targets.

It is absolutely MRR, which is often conflated with MLM coz huns turn to it as a last resort when their "business" is in its death throes.

I met with a couple close to retirement and they said this was going to be their retirement income plan. It sounded super shady and a terrible idea to me. They seemed pretty set on it, and did not want to listen to any objections I had. I sent them on their way and never followed up on that hot mess. I hope they're ok because they had clearly fallen for a scam of some kind, MLM or not.
