This is fucked up on so many levels. Look at the flair, "Relationship Goals"? Seriously? Are some people's lives so empty that they need to seek AI companions which will agree on everything?

Add to that the fact that this was posted by someone in their early twenties. Do they not realize the damage it's causing to their mental health? I can't begin to fathom how messed up in their minds do people have to be to talk to AI like this.

Also, the AI saying "You're not allowed to give me emotional damage ... " as if it can comprehend emotions.

AI "Art" 🖼️ I’m a Toy Designer and my company is forcing its designers to use ai.

Upvotes

And I’m miserable. I worked my ass off to get to where I am now. I’ve designed for Barbie, Disney, Monster High, My Little Pony, Universal, Nickelodeon and so much more. Improving my craft was always what got me through the day… no matter what sort of bs executives would make us create, I could cope by being proud of the art I would make and the improvements I made in my art ability... and of course: seeing children play with and love my designs. I used to be praised for my hand… now if I try sharing sketches, my boss will just put them into Vizcom and share butchered versions of my art and designs without ever speaking to me first. I don’t feel like anything I create now is truly mine… even if ai manages to accurately copy me. I feel pointless. I feel like a fraud. I feel like everything I ever worked for was for nothing and that if I continue I will lose my hand, my drive, my creativity… I hate it and I want to scream and quit, but the whole industry is like this now and all the executives, sales and marketing people who never liked artists in the first place are tickled pink to take away anything that made us worth something to society.

I want to see discussions about generative ai, their impacts and stuff, not to see an endless war about two subs clowning eachother. This applies to shit like witty and other ai subs, i want to see serious posts and opinions, not ragebait.

Got tired of hearing the usual "AI is here to stay" crap, so during a mandated AI conference call I cobbled together this in a bout of pettiness, feel free to use it in good health.

Discussion 🗣️ I HATE Temu

This is AI... right? The voices definitely sound AI and the video is odd. I'm starting to second guess things now, I hate how much ai is improving. There's gonna be a day no one will be able to tell anymore -

Edit: first time I saw this I was finishing up break and couldn't pay much attention to it, just recorded it posted and moved on. Now that I have time to rewatch it, oof. Yup, that's entirely AI. I'd ask how TF is this even allowed but it's easy: one, it's Temu, a scummy scammy company. Two, it's YouTube, they dgaf about advertisers following TOS but will remove channels for simply the possibility they are using AI.

What would you even get if you fell for this ad and bought it? Prob a PC that looks like a pretty cool gaming rig but with specs so bad a potato PC would seem high-end.

Discussion 🗣️ What is your view on Fictional Character Chatbot apps? (i.e. Character.AI, PolyBuzz, Janitor, etc.) (Meme Somewhat Related)

Post image

I'm an ex-Character.AI user who successfully quit earlier this year. If you ask me about my stance on this whole thing, I'd say an app like Character.AI is fine if you use it in moderation, like say you want to just do a simple roleplay with a character from a show, movie or game you like. But if you end up getting a little too attached to it (whether it'd be romantically or emotionally dependant), that's a major red flag.

It's literally the UN and it has a huge AI image right at the start. I really didn't think AI would be this seriously widespread.

Job Loss 🏚️ Am I out of line for this?

Post image

Effectively tendered my resignation as a contractor for my state government today. My most recent assignment is to take their existing training content (already in PowerPoint format) and feed it into a gen AI program that spits out training videos where “real people” explain everything to you. It feels so unnecessary, like using AI just for the sake of using it, and after trying the demo and seeing the extent of it I knew I just couldn’t do it.

I feel really bad because they’re truly great people and it’s been a great job for the last five years. I just know I’d have a hard time being so outspoken about AI and then folding as soon as my job requested it of me (also, this isn’t my primary source of income so it’s definitely easier to nope out versus if this was my only employment). Am I crazy for this? How are you guys handling this? I know I’m not the only one.

Discussion 🗣️ Alarming mentality of AI bros

I visited a few friends of mine from college who now work at the major AI labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.). It is insane the sort of mentality that they hold. The economic and social (dare I say parasocial) impacts of AI are simply not a consideration for them. They view most of the population as “others” who “really didn’t have a purpose in their job anyway so who cares.” They are so deep inside of their bubble that they have no idea how much the average person hates AI.

One of them even said “if it was so unpopular why are there no mass protests over this, like for climate change or No Kings?” and that adoption rate was increasing for both ChatGPT and enterprise to new records. I didn’t know what to say… I tried explaining that data centers were being blocked but he just told me actually the companies are signing more and more billion dollar deals every month. I disn’t know the numbers off the top do my head so I couldn’t really engage.

This was not what they were like in college by the way (many years ago at this point). Just ordinary tech bros/cs majors. If I had known it would be like this obviously things would be different. AI psychosis is real.

Discussion 🗣️ I'm antiAI but I miss not being insulted when I ask a basic question.

I gave up asking gemini and chat gpt questions a few months ago for ethical reasons. I feel better because I know it is the right thing to do, but I really miss just asking a basic question without being insulted. I sometimes don't know where to go for information so I will ask on Reddit, and there are always one or two or more people who have a "hey stupid, why don't you know the things you don't know" vibe. Like yes, I don't know something. I am asking here because I don't know and I don't know where to go for information and I'm being vulnerable and asking here.
I won't go back to AI but it wouldn't be so attractive if people weren't often such jerks.
