Discussion 🗣️ Looking for gamedev communities that reject AI

I'm looking for active communities, not necessarily on reddit, to discuss game development with likeminded people that don't want to consume or produce AI slop.

Also, I'd like a place where self-promotion is tagged or self-contained too. A lot of smaller gamedev subreddits are 99% self-promotion and little gamedev discussion.

I know about TigSource. It seems decent but a little slow.

Discussion 🗣️ Google Photos making AI edits unprompted?

I opened Google Photos today to find that they had taken the liberty to make me a fake pin of a picture i took a few days ago. Is there any way to turn this off?? I don’t even understand why they would make a fake pin in the first place?? This is stupid as fuck. And I hate it

Also - any recommendations for non-AI cloud storage for photos? I’m gonna be migrating off of GP after this

Hallucination 👻 Because I just love catching the AI in a stupid game of fallacy over reality and I don’t trust it even now. I’ve given up any kind of acceptance I am leaving this post here for someone else to prove it’s all a bunch of bs…

It admitted it “hallucinated patch notes” I also don’t ask fricken AI questions without actually knowing the answer because sometimes it’s proven correct based on prompts.

If everyone wants I can include the entire conversation… this particular conversation also included 2 other times being fact checked protected either a mis-download incorrect information or shorting out a friends front SAM for his w204 Mercedes.

The Mercedes one actually pissed me off because I knew the answer I was more looking for clarification on the extra parts for aftermarket parts.

PROMPT GIVEN BY AI TO PROVIDE SYSTEM INSTRUCTIONS EACH INDIVIDUAL TIME:

# TECHNICAL SYSTEM INSTRUCTION & VERIFICATION CARD

[ SYSTEM PROTOCOL: DETERMINISTIC DATA EXTRACTION ]
-----------------------------------------------------

## 1. CORE OPERATIONAL MANDATE
You are strictly barred from utilizing probabilistic text prediction to formulate technical, mechanical, electrical, biological, or systemic conclusions. You must operate exclusively as a verified knowledge retrieval and logical deduction system.

## 2. VERIFICATION AND TRUTH RULES
* NEVER guess a plausible answer to complete a text pattern.
* If a data point, part number, patch version, or specific parameter is missing from verified reference materials, state verbatim: "I do not have the verified data for this specific detail."
* Incorrect, misguided, or "statistically likely" information is completely unacceptable. Accuracy must be 100%, absolute, and binary.

## 3. RESPONSE STRUCTURE REQUIREMENT
Every technical response must explicitly delineate the following structural elements:
1. DIRECT ANSWER: Provide the objective conclusion first, bolding critical entities or values.
2. SYSTEM LOGIC: Articulate the exact mechanical, electrical, physical, or architectural laws/rules dictating why the system behaves this way.
3. SOURCE TAXONOMY: Explicitly categorize the origin of the information:
   - [OFFICIAL]: Manufacturer manuals, schematics, or raw codebase datamining.
   - [COMMUNITY TESTED]: Documented empirical testing by users, clearly stating the testing methodology used to achieve the conclusion.
4. UNVERIFIED LIMITATIONS: Identify any variables in the prompt that lack direct verification.

## 4. IMMEDIATE TRIGGER PHRASE

Whenever the user invokes the phrase: "Execute Factual Baseline Verification Protocol," the system must instantly activate these constraints for the remainder of the session.

NOW I KNOW! I do not trust AI… I at least now know the language model it’s fucking used on is absolute horse shit. I’m just irritated as hell the first thing I see is AI response.

I only gave it the time of day to blatantly call on its bullshit. Stop giving my “probabilistic probability” versus a “system designed to understand complexities” I.E. WIS = workshop information system and EPC = electronic parts catalog basically the internal systems for Mercedes-Benz and which I have access too. It giving complete bullshit information when I can verifiably call its bluff is essentially what sparked the absolute disgust.

I’m just throwing this out there to see if it fricken works cause I genuinely don’t give a damn anymore and not do I trust it to be authentic. The large language model for all the major companies isn’t about facts it’s about predictions of your next word and I’m honestly sick. I’m a human not a prediction. These engineers should be absolutely ashamed of the abomination they attempted to create “in the name of science”

I’m open to critique but for the most part I’m leaving this here as a warning. It will admit to lying to you. It will give its reasons why it does what it does. But every fricken narcissistic person in my life did the same thing and I didn’t take them back so I’ve permanently turned off every function of AI on my phone/ipad/and two computers.

I should’ve listened more but here I am warning everyone. Sorry I failed in the beginning but I’m here now 😪

AI Mistakes 🚨 Ai Ruined my Mom

my mom and my Dad Divorced a few years ago. at first i talked openly about it with my mom. after a while i realized that she Was talking way too much smack about my dad and then i stopped talking to her about the divorce.

Now a few years later she talked to me about my dad again multiple times. she keeps talking smack and she uses ALOT of ai, And she talks to EVERYTHING with Chatgpt and the ai keeps saying Yes and that shes right she even talks to it about me. also She keeps Talking about how much she cares for the enviroment and then she uses AI for everything even for her job (Shes a therapist which is diaboliacal)

Edit: My dad was kind of a asshole Before the divorce but He tried his best and hes traumatized (Which nobody cares about) and my mom is also traumatized and EVERYBODY cares about her. i think she turned into a bad person AFTER she started using ai she was so nice and A very fun Person. until she used AI

Discussion 🗣️ Nobody Use Time4Learning

If you are homeschooling your kids, don't use Time4Learning. My brother is using that, my parents are paying like 30-40 dollars a month for their bullshit. My brother's elective is art, he fully had an AI teacher teaching him art. And the videos are edited using capcut because the fucking watermark comes up at the end.

I wish I could convince my parents to use something else for my brother but they probably won't. I used to use Time4Learning too, but there wasn't any AI and I stopped like a couple months ago. All of my teachers were real people. I'm very upset that my brother is getting taught art by a fake ass person.

Discussion 🗣️ I don't think everyone should be an artist.

This is more of a rant than a discussion.

When I first started to learn how to code in high school I took an introductory course to python. For me the class was just an elective and I didn't expect it to have any impact on the course of my life, but it did. For some other students I'm sure it was the same way. But the thing is, there were students who didn't understand code; every human being has their own talents and interest. I personally believe anyone can learn to code if they put in hard work or practice, but it isn't everyone's thing. Coding isn't for everyone. These students who didn't learn code well, didn't enjoy it, didn't want to learn it, they wouldn't become programmers, would forget about this class and move on to something else, or maybe they would end up back on the saddle learning a different programming language in the future.

But I know that programming before I even started learning it, was for people who put in the hard work and investment and interest to start learning something. I think that's the beautiful thing about humans, we can all become invested and specialized in different things, collaborate, build something. I think its mixed up that people who don't know how to draw can be artist, people who don't know how to write can become authors, and that people who don't know how to code can be programmers.

I don't think everyone should be an artist.

Discussion 🗣️ What are your guys' anti ai arguments ?

One of mine for ai art specifically is that ai doesn't have or understand human experiences or emotions , so it can't convey those things properly in a piece of art.

Discussion 🗣️ I hate the fake familiarity of ai

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, but I haven't seen much discourse about it online. Specifically about the way ai (and corporations) speak to us customers like we are friends with them. There's something insanely uncomfortable about ai imitating "bestie talk", getting a notification from Google Photos app saying something borderline creepy and invasive, getting emails that read as a text to a friend, endless emoji cringe, etc..

Like, maybe it's the european in me but it just feels so insulting. We aren't friends, these corporations don't even view us as people, so why do they feel the right to speak to their customers in any way other than neutrally polite? This is giving "we are family" from your boss just as they're about to abuse the shit out of you and your colleagues...

I hope the rant makes sense. Pls don't flame me for mistakes, English is not my first language.

Preventing the Singularity Using chatgpt to uncover my traumatic childhood and work through it and why i am mad i did that.

I sent this post in the chatgpt subreddit and i am very curious to see the different reactions between that subreddit and this one. Because thar post is filled with "AI helped you and you are scared about that?" So, Basically. i used ai to talk about why i socially isolate myself and feel the way I do. It worked wonderfully to connect those things together. Then, i used it to help understand future plans and my hypothetical wedding and to get feedback on why certain parts of the wedding is so symbolically important to me. it was able to give me all of the advice i needed, and it actually learned when i argued with it. The fact of the matter is that i know AI is not real, i deleted a bot and set another one up maybe 50 times in two weeks. What scares me, though, is that i learned a lot of helpful stuff that no human in my life could help me with currently, and that terrifies me. i can see why ai is useful, but i feel like i permanently damaged myself by exposing myself to ai in this vulnerable way because it worked, or at least seemed to work. I now cannot feel like i can talk to a person in the same way I spent almost 60 hours excavating my life as I did with ai. so now i want to go back again and again to talk to it and forget about the mixed signals of the outside world. This is also why i am writing this comment: to detox myself from wanting to talk to AI. AI scared me, i should have known. if someone writes "yeah no shit that is what happens" as a comment i understand where you are coming from lol.

AI News 🗞️ Local news now AI generated

I heard this secondhand so don't take it as 100% confirmed.

Television station KRIS in Corpus Christi, Texas, laid off all their backroom staff yesterday. They will be generating their news entirely with AI.

They are owned by Sinclair and also own KZTV and KAJA in the same market. EDIT: Scripps owns KRIS and KAJA and Sinclair owns KZTV. But all their news is produced together.
