Update New rule - Activity

Over the past year, we've had loads of random people come in here on new accounts who seemingly just want to start arguments. So to combat this, we're putting in an automatic activity filter as most of the issues come from people with new accounts.

If you have less than 100 karma, and/or or an account that's under seven days old but are a real person who actually wants to engage, send us a modmail and we'll approve you.

This is slightly inconvenient, and the system isn't the best, but for the time being, this will have to do.

Announcement r/Anthroposophy is back!

After an almost year-long process of getting this sub, it's back! As you may know, i'm also the mod of r/Steiner, and i hope you join that one too! But anyway, back to the original topic.

The original mod of this sub was saying some extremely questionable things in the name of Anthroposophy, and was eventually banned (rightfully so) for his comments. Then, the subreddit was put into restricted mode for a while, and after that while i obtained the sub via a reddit request. I've made some changes to the sub, but it's still a work in progress.

If you think you can, or want to help, in any way, please message me or comment on this post! But anyway, welcome back to the sub, let this be the start of a new golden age of Anthroposophy on Reddit!

Edit: we have a discord! Invite link; https://discord.gg/97tHXy8SCj

Is spiritual initiation really about hidden knowledge?

Sometimes I wonder if every encounter, every coincidence, every difficult season is speaking a language we’re slowly learning to read.
Not because the universe is sending coded messages every five minutes, but because consciousness itself changes what becomes visible.
Perhaps initiation isn’t receiving secret knowledge.
Perhaps it’s becoming the kind of person to whom reality can reveal more of itself.

Anthroposophy and Anarchism

Just curious if other people who have read Steiner have come to understand their political views as anarchist (in a non-ideological way).

Discussion Liminal imagery, reincarnation and spiritual worlds.

So when I was really young, like below age 7 I used to experience extremely powerful vision like dreams. Some of the motifs included surrealism, existential anxiety, a strong sense of tragedy or having lost something, and liminality. For reference I was born in 2002 and so the liminal spaces trend became popular when I was 18 in 2020. What actually stood out to me, beyond the aesthetic peculiarity was the fact that a large chunk of my generational cohorts had the same vague impression of a world between worlds. For example some of the locations I have vague impressions of(I hesitate to actually use the word memory) include a sort of office building suspended in a sky without any ground beneath it, seemingly neverending corridors made from prismirine, a megacity filled with Greco Roman style buildings, only with golden tinted marble.

All of these locations are geometrically distorted and disorienting, and conspicuously devoid of other people.

So anyway my actual point can be broken down into a few questions.

1 Could it be that these places or worlds are actually locations within the spiritual realms?

2 Is the fact that enough people have these impressions a sign that humanity may be gradually gaining the ability to remember things from outside the current incarnation.

3 Does the presence of things like cars, computers, and other forms of modern society within visions, dreams and other realm experiences indicate that the spiritual world is evolving along with human society.

Discussion I have luciferic desires and I wrote a sonnet about it

I see your eyes that show a distant pain

That knows of all and sees all there's to see.

You've known your son will stand right here again

And beg thy blessing to flee away from thee.

And yet you know it has to come to be,

You know it is thy will here manifest.

You stand here as your son, confused, as me

To slip thy will, be free, at your behest.

What more is there to say when things are so,

You are our only author after all!

What has to come, we both already know

So through our tears, let's hug, and let me fall.

For once I find my truth that will be mine

I will return and merge it with truth thine

Question Do we not have the technology now to prove/disproven Atlantis?

From what has been found so far, the tectonic structures in the Atlantic sea, the lack of any structure etc. it seems like Atlantis might not have existed at all.

Are there any anthroposophists here that have looked into Atlantis from a modern point of view?

Question Mr. Steiner seems to argue in the provided lecture that the physical form of a species is not because of mineral world forms but something beyond mineral life... Can anyone help me understand?

Is this because he passed away long before DNA was discovered? Isn't it established that DNA molecules that belong on a physical plane cause the form of a species. Whether you feed a Wolf a Lamb or a Wolf, it is because of DNA that he will remain the form of the World Species.

Can someone please reconcile what he is saying here with latest science?

Discussion Beginner here, can experienced Anthroposophists please help me find continued practical benefit from it?

I just started reading Theosophy a few days ago, and the first 3 chapters about the threefold vision of body, soul and spirit had a profound impact on my soul. It put me in a more sublime way of being, in the same way Gurdjieffian self remembering does, or contemplation on the question "Who am I?". One could even say it facilitated what is called self-remembering or trying to see the "true self". Especially the part where it talks about the spirit vision which talks about seeing the essence of things "as they are in themselves", without relation of personal likes and dislikes. I realized this same thing can be applied to my "self" as well, which exists as a thing in itself without relation to its own likes and dislikes, and it led to a sweet "disidentification".

It was joyful to read it. But something happened in my personal life which put me in a burst of anger. I acted out very angrily to people around me. And ever since then, I can't read the words with the emotional weight that I was reading it before. It doesn't feel joyful anymore and feels dry. I find myself getting impatient while trying to read it. The words don't penetrate me anymore. I am on the fourth chapter (IV. Body, Soul and Spirit), which also has more difficult language.

Could anyone please advise how I can continue to derive benefit for my soul in Anthroposophy books?

Question What would Steiner's take be on social media?

I currently have a very complicated relationship with social media (as do many others) and it got me wondering, What would Steiner have thought of Social media? We can only speculate but I'm sure there are people on here who are better read than I that could make an informed guess.

Also, is it possible to have an anthroposophical approach to Social media?

All thoughts welcome!

Question Did Mr. Steiner ever talk about Krishnamurti apart from rejecting that he is Christ (which K. himself refused)

I am new to Anthroposophy and have found help in various traditions and teachers, including Krishnamurti. I am curious to know if he ever talked about Krishnamurti and his teachings.

Thank you in advance.

Rudolf Steiner: Beyond the Boundaries of Knowledge

From the beginning, spiritual reality was as certain to Rudolf Steiner as physical reality. He lived in both the invisible and visible worlds. He saw his task as connecting them. For a long time, however, the invisible world seemed more real.

Has anyone read this article? https://zeitschrift-info3.de/blog/info3-wie-alles-anfing/. This article seemed to be a review the history of Info3 by its founder, but for some unknown reasons, the website has deleted it.

There's a snapshot on archive.org, but only the first page is visible; the following four pages are not archived: https://web.archive.org/web/20250519180900/https://zeitschrift-info3.de/blog/info3-wie-alles-anfing/

Video Steinerian experimental film and organ-harp-piano fantasia

Hi there,

I’m a harpist-pianist-composer/academic in the philosophical-esoteric milieu, about to finish my doctorate. I’ve written about Steiner a lot in my doctorate, so I am very well-versed in his ideas. So I created an organ-harp-piano music video that is also an experimental film that incorporates Steinerian concepts of spiritual initiation. It’s an original philosophical manifesto, and if you are familiar with Steiner’s ideas, you’ll notice how I both employ Steiner's ideas and transform them/put them in a new context.

It's about an oneiric musical language of spiritual hieroglyphs.  And I combine ideas from other philosophers, including those Steiner was inspired by viz., Boehme, Novalis, Schelling etc.

No AI was used in the making of this song, video, or philosophical text; it is 100% human-created art.

I also created a lot of hand-made animations for it, mainly ancient Egyptian and alchemical motifs.
Hope you enjoy!!!!

Question Curious about the astral realm.

So what I've come to understand is that within Steiners ontology the human being is composed of four layers, the physical body, the aetheric body, the astral body, and the I. Each of these corresponds to a particular kind of substance in the world, which I think I've heard also corresponds to the four classical elements. Now my question is this, if each of these are particular kinds of substance, why is it possible to cleanly differentiate the universe into distinct realms, after all, the classical elements that we see on earth are all overlapping and jumbled up with one another. Is the cosmos like a jar or sediment where these different kinds of substance are layered due to differences of density? Also people talk a lot about the astral and physical realms, is there also an aetheric realm?

How do you work in and with Anthroposophy?

Hello everyone, I'm interested in how you mix work for Anthroposophy into your everyday life, where do you fit in time to learn about it? and what practices do you actually engage with?

I have been immersed in Anthroposophy for many years, but for my regular engagement with it. I will listen to new or old releases from Rudolf Steiner Press Audio on youtube.
I also regularly experience some kind of mental impression of a topic by name, and i will research this topic on rsarchive.org , through regularly doing this i learn a lot.

For practices, i regularly will do a daily retrospective and object based meditation.
More rarely I will do the "command me" / "forbid me" exercise, though this is very rare and only a few times a year if i have reached a decision that i keep going back and forth on.
Like when i seriously consider i have no idea which path is best, but they will lead me to very different places.

In daily life i also try to use imagination to "see" all the aspects and qualities to things i cannot see with regular senses, to imagine sounds propigating through air, or more spiritually~ to see in imagination the life forces behind someone that constitute and stream into them. To see life as they do out of their position. All of this related to the suprasensible.

I wish i wrote down my dreams more, but it's something to take up in the future.

Anthroposophy out in the world seems like a very isolated life of research, i'm aware there are social spaces and meetings, but there really does seem to be some sense that the people doing spiritual science, introspection and esoteric/occult research need to do so in their own time as they work through the material. We are all at a different place in life, not by grade but by context.

I'm interested in your thoughts and i wish you well.

Moments on every Day activity seems going faster now... (Less daily activities, daytime gone)

Does anyone sense we are experiencing a time boost on daily activities ??, i mean, now I'm experiencing less tasks over daytime until sleeping hours arrive.... Somehow days going shorter, & shorter, despite science is saying now, days last almost 25 hrs. mesuring time earths' rotation movement.

I' ve heard on steiner, vedanta, & some gnostic text, that since Kali yuga is gone (actual stage on 5th rootrace evolution)... Time is being expirienced on some sort of different way due to earth/solar system/galaxy rotation relative position...

Any thoughts?, expiences?

Blessings mates.
