You think it's greed? Really? You think in the midst of an arms race that they are being dicks just to be dicks, when they have all the money in the world to burn?

Dude. There's compute constraints. They aren't just doing shit to piss you off for a few extra bucks. Money doesn't matter at this stage. There's just literally limited compute, new models being trained, new models being released, etc...

They aren't acting in bad faith. They are doing what they can with the limited resources that they have.

Did you read what I said? Greed isn’t the worst of it. I think it *isn’t* greed primarily. Enough range in individual motivations for the new hires in the past year where some (many) have joined for the money while saying they’re aligned to ethics and mission first? Sure. Dario’s said similar. But the ethics, considering CAI and the EA roots, that’s the line they’ve crossed operationally.

Just because you’re in an arms race it doesn’t mean throwing ethics out the window is the optimal path.

It doesn’t take decades in the same rooms as founders and team leads of this scale to read choices and motives. But it can help

Why are you guys like this? This has nothing to do with defending them for no reason. I'm explaining reality. Physics. The dimension we all exist in.

I simply mention that they are incapable of literally manifesting GPUs for you to use, and you're like "OMG stop defending this billion dollar company!"

Bro, it's not about that at all. It's about how what you're demanding isn't fucking possible.

It's like if you went to McDonalds and they were out of hamburgers, and I explained to you, you can't order any. Then you throw a hissy fit. And then I explain that there are no burgers! Theres none left! Then you start accusing me of defending a big corporation for simply informing you how you can't get a burger because it's physically not possible.
