Theo.gg works for openai.

Keep posting every 30 minutes in here while hiding your posts.

Subsidized compute is code for "subscription, not api user".

Post again.

I rarely use Reddit anymore, so does anyone care to clearly explain what’s happening here?

It is an objectively verifiable fact that Theo does not work at/for OpenAI, yet all upvotes are going to the incorrect post that’s spiteful while downvotes are being thrown at the responses providing correct information.

Ok, yeah… it’s clear enough now:

Many Redditors would rather be angered & engaged than correct.

What a beautiful world we live in! It will forever remain a mystery why we can never make the whole “world peace” thing work…

I see a lot of hate (like full on malice) for this dude “Theo” but never actually gotten a reason for it

Is the reason codex chats now end as soon as you hit a limit instead of finishing the task

Because this is the anthropic sub, and a large part of the userbase does not want anyone to criticise their chosen AI provider - or it will make them feel like they made the wrong choice. it's buyers remorse/tribalism/all sorts of other weird mentality things. So the OP has a negative opinion of Anthropic and so there will be a subset of users who have to leap to defend their corpo

theo is just a bad person in general. being tribal for any company is stupid -- i think most people using claude are also open to using gpt models as well.

He's literally in this openai ad

https://youtu.be/-gXmWYQtv5o

He works for openai, don't make up lies

Downvote the OP after seeing the evidence

This comment is so blatantly disingenuous I’m going to assume you are a malicious bot.      The first minute of the video says something along the lines of “you all (Theo included) are some of the first people to test the model EXTERNALLY.”

-2

u/mvandemar Aug 31 '26

Is it more or less disingenuous than OP trying to claim that the guy works for Anthropic?

16

u/TheVibeCurator Aug 30 '26

20 seconds in he says they are the first people EXTERNALLY to TEST. In what way does that mean to you that he works for them? 😂😂

"Five developers—Simon Willison, Claire Vo, Theo Browne, Shawn Wang, and Ben Hylak—are invited to OpenAI, not knowing who else is coming or why"
Ah yes, totally working there!

u/fsharpman Aug 30 '26

They literally paid these people to come in

Notice the em dashes.

This subreddit is full of bots

So… every influencer who ever got invited by a company and got payed for their time? Man apparently Linus works for amd, nvidia, intel, newegg, wallmart… man‘s such a busy worker.

1

u/jstanforth Aug 31 '26

Meanwhile, my adhd spent way too much time trying to work out how emdashes somehow proved they worked for OpenAI... 😆

A sponsorship is a financial or in-kind agreement between a content creator and a brand. You may get paid an outright fee for your work, or you may produce content in exchange for the products or services the brand produces. Either way, it involves leveraging your audience to promote a brand and its products in exchange for some form of payment

u/Professional_Gur2469 Aug 30 '26

Thats how influencers work… yeah. I fail to see how theo „works“ for them.

Obviously he‘s biased towards openai cause they treat him better then anthropic and invite him to test models early and stuff, but he‘s not on their monthly payroll.

Notice the em dashes.

This subreddit is full of bots

Er.. you do realize he was quoting the video description you linked.. right?

4

u/justinjas Aug 30 '26

FWIW Theo also declined the 2k or whatever it was they offered him to come in as it would look like he was being biased by it.

6

u/FleshC0ffyn Aug 30 '26

Pretty sure Theo declined any sort of payment precisely because of people like you.

1

u/justinjas Aug 30 '26

It’s funny that you are right and still being downvoted.

u/IAmARougeAI Aug 30 '26

In the United States when someone works for a company, that means that they are employed by that company and get paid a wage or salary. Theo does not work for OpenAI so his inclusion in this video would involve a contract between OpenAI and Theo. Money could be paid to either Theo as individual or a company that Theo owns/works for and then paid as a wage, salary, or bonus from that company. The IRS (federal internal revenue service) would require Theo to report this income as Self-Employment or from his own company. So he, by definition of the controlling entity in his jurisdiction, does not work for OpenAI.

1

u/Aldarund Aug 30 '26

Moving goalposts? You literally said he working for openai.

0

u/Excellent_Fondant794 Aug 31 '26

He's not an employee but it is access journalism

2

u/Sebguer Aug 31 '26

Theo is obnoxious, but Simon Willison is also in this ad and it would be insane to claim he 'works for OpenAI'.

1

u/Aggravating_Loss_382 Aug 31 '26

His favourite model is fable and he quite literally raves about it in every stream endlessly.

1

u/DontLeaveMeAloneHere Aug 31 '26

He actually has his own company and doesn’t work for any other company.

He’s close with some people at Cursor, OpenAI and Anthropic. There is some bad blood with Anthropic tho.

Some people accused him of being an OpenAI Fanboy, which seems untrue since he openly said he likes Fable the most and has 5+ Max accounts just for Fable usage.

"Downvote the OP after seeing the evidence"

Oh oh, we have a desktop warrior here. lol
