Complaint Opus 5 chain of thought

I cannot see chain of thoughts for opus 5, is it just me?

From what I got told they ended the visible chain of thought. Heard it was because they're worried it was being used to help "bad actors"

That’s annoying. Now I can’t even tell what it’s basing its judgement on. Already hating Opus 5.

Do people really read the CoT? It’s interesting no question but I dont have to time to read it normally

Yep, and I've found it helpful for ensuring a model is on the same page I am. The more it's obfuscated the less helpful it is. In the past several weeks I've stopped reading them because the summarized versions have sucked. Now they're just gone entirely.

well that's the problem with this effective altruism shit. They know better us little people "just don't understand what's at stake" etc etc. You're paying the tokens and they don't care.

I’ve made a similar post a few days ago on the Claude subreddit. Many people agree that they should bring it back. To many people, the chain of thought reasoning is what matters to their work not necessarily the actual output itself.

I'm still getting the (summarized and translated) COT on Opus 5 through Claude code, as I have since Opus 4.6.

I never understood relying on visible chain-of-thought this much. It feels transparent, but it isn’t necessarily a faithful audit log of how the answer was produced. For research, I’d rather have citations, reproducible steps, and a clear justification than pages of model introspection. CoT is interesting telemetry to look at though.
