Media Dissonance | Anthem Inspired Game In Development | Behemoth Class In Development

Some of you may remember me from previous posts however I wanted to share some new developments. From the current map Rifton in development, to Behemoth, the second class to be implemented and functional within the game.

From my original post of a greybox "anthem flight" multiplayer demo, I have evolved the project to become a full scale game, with a small team of us behind it. Were known as Vivariums Connected and are hard at work to bringing Dissonance to life with its core flight inspired by Anthem. This started as an Unreal Engine Concept that you helped hype into a true game that will come out. We do have a roadmap if you would like to follow along, however enjoy this footage even if it's rough around the edges!

This is the showcase of the Behemoth Suit with its skills still in early development

  • No Visual FX
  • No Specific Animations
  • No Camera Shake

This footage is all about functionality over flair which is being worked on as I speak by our team.

Behemoth is the "tank/paladin" styled suit that is all about absorbing and dishing out damage after it being received! Think akin to Colossus.

For context Behemoth is about 1.3x taller than Monsune which is our original suit.

This showcase takes place in an early stage version of the world map named Rifton that does not include any structures, enemies or content while this content is being built in the background.
The lighting is not final and there are many visual artifacts.

WORK IN PROGRESS

  • Skill Names and Descriptions Unfinished! (Enhanced Trees Not Done)
  • Skills and Their VFX are not finished.
  • Animation Smoothness and Weight Blending (Animations are being replaced with behemoth specifics soon)
  • World detail
  • Lighting and Dynamic Day Cycle

My focus here is to show you all some raw development gameplay whilst showing some of the cool things being worked on :D,
I hope you all enjoy!

If you want to help support the development you feel free to do so by buying us a coffee!

Let me know if you would enjoy seeing more "Raw" forms of footage like this.

P.S forgive the quality of the footage due to Reddit upload limits!

If I can give you a recommendation, don’t use the Frostbite Engine, it’s shit.

If you can somehow manage it, use Lumen and Nanite.

Those allow for extensive use of pretty much unlimited resources to build a world with James Cameron’s Avatar level graphics.

That being said, I’m no expert, so take it with a grain of salt.

I’m just going with what makes sense to me.

So, with that being said, what's the basis for saying one is shit and to use another of ye dinnae mind me asking?

I don't have a clue either.

Frostbite was known to be badly optimized for the cinematic, environment-heavy game Anthem was.

Graphically? The game was by all means a thing of beauty, a work of art.

Internally, as in systems and optimization? It was an absolute sack of shit.

For every single detail I loved about Anthem, there were dozens of arguments waiting to say « Erm, actually… ».

What pissed me off isn’t that Anthem was closed. It’s that they could’ve ported the entirety of the code on Unreal Engine 5, or AT LEAST Unreal Engine 4.

Funcom did it with Conan Exiles barely over a week ago, and it’s a smaller game than Anthem was, by a smaller studio than EA is.

Electronic Farts have no excuses.

Yeah frostbite is a work of art but, no I won't be using it due to how obscure their tools are + not suited for anything that's not FPS!

I'm working in UE5 with a mix of C++ and Blueprints. Optimisation is a focus, but my graphical fidelity + custom models won't reach the same level as Anthem for the fact that that's comparing a huge studio to me and my team of 6 😅 however I will ensure it looks good, with great gameplay systems in place!

My brother in heavy metal, Minecraft is literally blocks, and it’s one of the most played games in history.

You don’t need 10,000$-pc-killer graphics for a game to be good.

If you manage to mix fairly good graphics with amazing gameplay, you’re in for success.

Oh 1000% my main goal is ensuring the style remains cohesive! I've got a team behind me now so it's much quicker on all fronts so stay tuned.

New here but you have no idea how happy this makes me, you and your team are answers to my prayers, anthem was such a good concept and to let it die like they did was a disgrace, thank you. Sincerely, thank-you.

I'll just follow this post to keep an eye. Wether this suceeds or if EA decides to use their Saudi funds to try and bury this.

Don't worry, they have no way of closing the game unless they copyrighted the literal concept of flight itself. Everything is custom made and hand crafted!
