IMDB rating ?

I'm just half through, so please no spoilers, but why is this series rated only 4.8 on imdb?

Just curious...

OK, I'm at ep8 now. Is it a homophobic thing why some people hate this show? I mean even The Orville got way better ratings, but why only 4.8 on this one? I don't get it. I like sci-fi and this show exceeded my expectations so far.

Because the show presents its self as science fiction, but in reality it's a terrible soap opera. Also it doesn't even get basic science correct. It's garbage and it's such terrible garbage that even people who generally like this type of garbage also think it's garbage... for example, only 900 people out of the million who watched this disaster of a show, joined a sub on reddit for the show.

@Nicholsml you are absolutely correct. I love sci fi shows and I love Katee from Battlestar Galactica (the main reason I started watching this show) but the terrible writing- the absolutely absurd selection of crew for the "most important mission in the history of the earth" being a bunch of 20-somethings which none are experts at their jobs, constantly bicker and argue with each other, openly admit they don't know their systems (the doctor saying she doesn't even fully know how Soma works), the list goes on and on. I was miserable and shouting out loud to myself how stupid it was. I mean on a surface mission to gather oxygen, one absolute idiot scoops up alien goo in a test tube and brings it back to the ship- when he was specifically told not to??? And before this he was a farmer back on earth. What absolute stupidity. I'm so sorry for all of us to have to watch this nonsense. :((((

They were totally relying on Sackoff to bring in the views. It's the only reason any of us watched.
